Local, state, and federal partners joined OCTA in San Clemente on Friday to mark the official reopening of a section of the San Clemente Beach Trail at Mariposa Point. The completed project includes a nearly 1,400-foot catchment wall, a new pedestrian bridge and a rebuilt trail, helping protect the coastal rail line while restoring an important recreational connection for the community. OCTA is also advancing emergency work at several vulnerable locations throughout San Clemente, including reinforcing shoreline protection, adding sand to help buffer the railroad from wave action and protecting the tracks from bluff movement. Thank you to our partners and the community for working with us to protect the coastal rail corridor and preserve public access to the coast. At OCTA’s annual Bus and Maintenance Roadeo, coach operators and maintenance teams competed in a series of challenges that highlighted their skills and expertise. Coach operators maneuvered a 40-foot bus through tight turns, backing maneuvers and other obstacles, while maintenance teams diagnosed and repaired planted mechanical issues. Administrative employees and OCTA Board members also got behind the wheel to learn more about bus operations. Congratulations to this year’s winners. Special recognition goes to Coach Operator Darvy Traylor and maintenance team members Shawn Tchen, Yohan Park and Leonardo Villanueva, who will represent OCTA at the Southern California Regional Roadeo.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner intends to safely resume passenger service through San Clemente on Monday, Sept. 14. Metrolink will continue to operate as far south as the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Station due to ongoing concerns that wave-related impacts to the signal system could cause significant delays. To avoid potentially lengthy delays for passengers, Metrolink plans to resume full service through San Clemente as soon as Tuesday, Sept. 15, provided conditions remain safe for rail operations.   Passengers are encouraged to check Metrolink Alerts and Pacific Surfliner Travel Advisories for the latest service information before traveling and for updates about potential service updates.
