Tilbury joins the Global Dockers’ Day Of Action
Trade unionists, anti-war campaigners and Palestine solidarity activists will gather at Tilbury Docks, Essex, at 9am on Friday 30 October as part of the International Dock and Transport Workers Against Genocide day of action.
Initiated by the World Federation of Trade Unions, the global mobilisation will span around 100 ports in 17 countries, calling for an end to arms shipments to Israel. In Italy, the action will also coincide with a wider general strike.

GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST APPLE
Marking the launch of the iPhone Duo, campaigners are protesting outside Apple’s Regent Street store in London, highlighting the company’s alleged human rights abuses, complicity in genocide, and funding of exploitation. Actions With Impact is one of the main groups behind today’s protest, which is part of an international day of action.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, tech giants are accused of profiting from forced labour, including child labour, while turning a blind eye to corruption, unethical mining and environmental destruction. These practices are linked to armed militias accused of displacement, sexual violence and even genocide.
The protest is supported by the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, in response to Apple’s links to Israel, where it operates a major research and development centre and has allegedly donated to Friends of the IDF.
Apple’s links to forced labour in China have also long been a concern for campaigners, who say that thousands of Uyghurs have been uprooted from East Turkistan and forced to work in technology factories.
