Your favorite Leaflet plugin, Leaflet.markercluster, got the first update in 5 years! v2.0.0-beta.1 features modern ESM, TypeScript types, lots of optimizations, bug fixes and accessibility improvements, works with both Leaflet v1.9 and 2.0 beta. Enjoy ⚡️ github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet.m…

The final release is coming soon — just needs a bit more polish and a few plugins catching up, but meanwhile we'd really appreciate any feedback. Try migrating your codebase and let us know if you run into any trouble: github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet/b…

The default Leaflet marker icon might get an overhaul for 2.0! Which style do you prefer — the current one on the left or the new one on the right?

Earlier in my career I worked on geospatial data/mapping almost exclusively. I'm so glad to see leaflet still going at a time that's increasingly tough for open source. One of my favorite libraries 💜

A moment exactly 14 years ago. Later that year, what you see on the screens got released as @LeafletJS. At the time, I never would have dreamed of how much this little piece of code would impact my career and the mapping software industry as a whole. Good times!

Hey friends, our website got down due to a misconfigiration of domain DNS settings — it should be back to normal but may take a few hours to propagate across the world. Sorry for the trouble!

Did you know the creator of Leaflet is also the frontman of an exceptional band with beautiful music? This is the best thing you'll see and hear today. 🎵 rain.in.ua/go/dity
Friends, today my band @obiymydoschu has released a new song from the upcoming album with a video made by my twin daughters. It's a true labour of love — can't put into words how proud it makes me. Please watch, listen, add to your playlists and share ❤️ youtu.be/148g23r8PjI

Here's my conversation with @mourner on the story behind @LeafletJS, arguably the simplest mapping library and used on maps all over the Internet today We talk about what makes maps complicated, keeping code simple, open source & life in Ukraine Watch: youtu.be/k7aVBINDRJg

This is really cool, and sports a nice Leaflet example in the “Getting started” tutorial 👏
Today we’re launching a bold new vision: an open-source static site generator — Observable Framework — for creating fast, beautiful data apps you can host anywhere. Use JavaScript for interactive graphics with Python, R, or any language for data analysis. observablehq.com

A telling e-mail I got in response to the pro-Ukraine message on the @LeafletJS website. A Russian guy tells me that Russia is kind and peace-loving country liberating Ukraine from nazis, and because I'm lying about it, he will track down and slit the throat of my twin daughters. – at Ukraine

📍With just a few lines of code, you can now overlay historic maps on a @LeafletJS map with the new Allmaps plugin. See observablehq.com/@allmaps/le… to try it out‼️

Absolutely chilling to see Leaflet being used for this purpose. Ukrainian volunteers risking their lives to save people trapped by Russia-made flood, while Russians leave them to die and shoot at rescuers. #RussiaIsATerroristState #RussiaBlewTheDam
Replying to @ChristopherJM
People in flooded areas under Russian control publish desperate pleas for help on social media. Volunteers collect them on an interactive map that now has more than 650 color-coded requests. Blue pins show those who can afford to wait for help, red denotes the most urgent cases.

May has been rough for 🇺🇦. Most of the nightly air raids on this viz are actual bombings of Kyiv with suicide drones and cruise/ballistic missiles. The last 3 nights were especially loud — enough for my daughters to wake up. Donate here to help 🙏 savelife.in.ua/en/donate-en
