Budget Day is tomorrow.
Here is what some of our Liberal Democrat MPs are calling on the Chancellor to deliver.
John Healey was Defence Secretary.
As Chancellor, he must deliver the funding defence requires.
Here’s what the Lib Dems want him to do.
@JamesMacCleary
🚨 Liberal Democrats have revealed that ministers have repeatedly failed to set a deadline for Roman Abramovich's legal team to transfer £2.6 billion in proceeds from the sale of Chelsea Football Club to Ukrainian humanitarian causes.

Liberal Democrats *repeatedly* warned that removing ring fenced funding would amount to a cut in the maternity budget.
When women and babies are left unsafe, and the NHS is spending £1.3bn each year on maternity related negligence, it’s unforgivable.

The fish rots from the head. When Farage goes on TV to excuse racist attacks on Kemi Badenoch, no wonder his councillors think they can get away with what we've seen on ITV.
This is Trump's America, we can't let it become Farage's Britain.
'Do you think it's racist'
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was questioned on #BBCBreakfast after his former senior aide Raheem Kassam called Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch as a 'Nigerian scammer'

A big step forward and a testament to all the carers who’ve campaigned against this injustice.
But is the government really saying: if carers get a pay rise or work more hours, it will take back every penny of their extra income? A 100% tax rate? That can’t be right.

Labour is all over the place on immigration, Brexit and the EU.
The Home Sec and the PM are clearly not on the same page, as evidenced by her responses to me in the House of Commons earlier today.
That’s before we consider the wider splits in Labour on ILR and FOM…
🚨 Shabana Mahmood appears to dispute Brexit’s role in small boats crisis
The home secretary told MPs and @mpmwilko:
- EU asylum pact is not “the silver bullet”
- “Everyone wants to remove people from their countries, but nobody actually wants to receive them”
- “In the last five years of [Dublin agreement], we did not deport as many people as we managed to do under the agreement that we had with France”
- Hours earlier, Andy Burnham said the crisis arose because “we can’t return people... in the same way that we used to be able to.”
- In February 2026, Mahmood told @CommonsHomeAffs: “Is Brexit responsible for the boats? I do not think that is true.”

It is budget week.
We are calling for a budget that cuts the costs of living.
The Chancellor must listen to our plans, so households across Britain have the support they need.
@libdemdaisy
Military compensation is treated as income. Civil compensation isn’t.
Now, 103 MPs from across different parties are demanding the Treasury changes the law and ends an injustice affecting 4,000 veterans across the UK.
🎖️I've brought together 103 MPs from 11 parties & @PoppyLegion with a simple Budget ask:
Stop cutting injured veterans' benefits just because they've received military compensation.
Civilian compensation is protected. Veterans should be too.
Chancellor, this injustice must end
The rise in employers’ National Insurance has hit businesses, jobs and investment hard.
A thriving private sector is key to economic growth. We need meaningful business rates reform and further VAT cuts for hospitality to support our struggling high streets.

This is an extraordinary result: a rejection of Vučić’s government’s authoritarian suppression of opposition and a victory for democracy and free speech. The Student List have shown amazing courage. Putin will be furious to lose one of his loyal allies.

Ten years on, we have the worst of both worlds on immigration and asylum.
Without freedom of movement, businesses face red tape while losing skilled workers. Restoring it cuts business costs, creates quality jobs for Young people, and helps us tackle the crisis together.
With the budget next week, the Chancellor needs to give British people the breathing space to tackle the cost of living.
People across the country are struggling with everyday expenses, and we need urgent action to slash energy bills, cut travel costs, and introduce a VAT cut to support hospitality and high streets.

The only thing stopping the PM having an honest discussion is Labour’s EU red lines.
Removing them will get our economy growing and give us the chance to join the EU Migration and Asylum Pact.
That’s how we create a controlled, fair and safe asylum system.
