Hey friends, I'm super-thrilled to announce my next book, due out in September, about a peak-bagging challenge I undertook and what I learned about minimalism, the mountains, and myself. Available to pre-order at barefootken.com/chasing-the-… Thank you @UlyssesPress and @firerooster

Another successful barefoot hike, with 4 of us plus 3 friends in shoes making it to the summits of Dunderberg and Bald Mountain in Harriman State Park. Stunning fall day! Super-rocky trail covered in leaves made for a painful, slow, and treacherous descent🤬but we eventually made it down and as with all type 2 fun exercises, once it was over we were all 😃and can't wait to get back out

Ocean State Marathon (Narragansett Beach, RI) complete for #barefoot marathon/ultra no. 30 Nightmare course! Pebbly pavement 😓 then smooth pavement but with abundant scattered grit 😡 then nice surface and I could run 😃 then back to grit and pebbles and rough chip & seal 😵‍💫 and the last mile was so bad I had to walk 🤬 but once it was over I was so pleased to have done it Got a lot of compliments from friendly RI runners -- animal, badass, amazing, love it, and my fav "you are a f*cking savage" Barefoot is definitely a "different" approach. Time to sign up for no. 31

3 shots in 6 seconds....nothing to brag about, but faster than I used to be Just want to make sure I have some basic skills in case of zombie apocalypse or getting surprised by a band of orcs

#MedalMonday I put all my finisher/age group medals from like the last 15 years (150 barefoot races, 120 marathons/ultras etc etc) on the dining room table and was so proud of the silly trinkets and the effort/accomplishments they represent -- and then 2 days later got tired of them because they are like so yesterday. So they went into a box, which if I can lift it, will go back in the garage, while I'm starting over the dining room table display as of a month ago. I don't want to rest on laurels, i want to do more! #FOMO

"Fun" time at the Big Bear Squatch 10k in Harriman State Park. Fun as in type 3 fun, with me jogging about 10% of the course and otherwise cursing the rocks, acorns, and beech nuts. Finished it and survived!

LOL I beat my goal, which was 3 hours, coming in at 2:54, which is a super-sonic 2.2 MPH. 🐌🐌🐌

Two (2) barefoot runners at the HHNM 5k! A rare occurrence

Storm King Mountain climbed, for #barefoot peak no. 694, on a gray 50 F blustery day -- brrr. Not a long trail, but very rocky and covered in leaves, so it made for a slow afternoon. This followed the HHNM 5k, where I managed to win my age group and ran slightly faster than last year. Hope to survive another trail race tomorrow!

I had the honor of presenting Ru Shodai with the Run Wild "Dagger of Determination" for completing the 70-mile SRT Run. This race is no joke: 70 miles along a rocky mountain trail, on an unmarked course, with no aid. Nice job Ru -- thank you for the inspiration! runwildhv.org/srt

4 shots in 14 seconds is nothing to brag about, but it's fun to get a little bit smoother and be hitting the target mostly

Nice day! 21-mile 👣 run across the Walkway Over the Hudsonz followed by lunch and work cleaning up the house and paying bills etc - nice to run and still feel functional (although a nap might be an idea here....) I've got work to do to get closer to target pace, but feel like this run validates readiness to at least complete some marathons this fall, so time to start signing up.

Ran 5k trail race this morning and finishers received this bar of soap. Marketers! What will they think of next? 😂

I love my friends at Cafe Mio and their ever-changing menu of omelette specials so much, I wrote up a review for Chronogram....and now I'm wondering if I should change careers and become a food critic? chronogram.com/food-drink/di…

I think the deer understand that cars are dangerous, but they don't seem to know what to make of a barefoot runner on the roads.
