NEW: A federal judge ordered the Trump admin to stop cutting down trees at the historic East Potomac Park after crews felled 430 trees in one day. The Park Service has been quietly handing out contracts to remake the public course into a luxury championship venue for Trump.

AI companies, crypto, defense contractors, and billionaire allies have all poured $330 million into Trump’s gilded ballroom while they had business before his administration. What did Trump promise them?
New financial records reveal the secret top donors for Trump's ballroom fund include Palantir, Lockheed Martin, the Adelson family, Nvidia, Apple, Google, and Microsoft.

There's a reason that, in movies, the guys in expensive suits who show up to chop down trees and bulldoze a public park to build a golf course are the villains. East Potomac Park belongs to the American people, not a shambolic president who thinks our public lands are part of his personal golf course portfolio.

Trump has chosen to spend $1.82 billion in taxpayer dollars on projects to fuel his ego. Meanwhile, families are struggling to afford groceries, keep the lights on, fill up their cars, and cover the basic costs of everyday life.  A new ballroom and a 250-foot arch won’t make anyone’s life better. At a time when Americans are being squeezed by everyday costs, Trump’s priorities could not be more out of touch.

Read Ranking Member @RepHuffman's statement in response to the Senate's permitting reform bill  ⬇️
My thoughts on the Senate's permitting reform bill:    Passing a good permitting reform package will be one of my top priorities for the next Congress, so I'm very interested in these Senate negotiations.    From what I've seen, Senators Whitehouse and Heinrich have done some good work, but they've been negotiating from a position of weakness and the tentative deal unveiled today raises significant questions and concerns that would have to be resolved before most Democrats could support it.    I'm all for streamlining transmission and clean energy buildout, but the threshold requirement before making major policy concessions is to actually end Trump's war on renewables so that hundreds of bottled-up clean energy projects can bring that affordable power to the grid. Further, we can't throw states, tribes, impacted communities, and threatened and endangered wildlife under the bus. And as we streamline and cut red tape, we must make sure the American people — not just powerful corporate interests — have a say in government decisions about what happens to our air, water, and public lands. That's what serious, responsible permitting reform looks like.   There's a way to get there, and parts of this deal are helpful, but some of it concedes too much. Hollowing out the Endangered Species Act through the delegation of authority and problematic definitions, for example, is so extreme that a milder version of it spooked several House Republicans off of Bruce Westerman's ESA bill earlier this year, so you can imagine how it's going to land with the American people who overwhelmingly support protecting wildlife. And the provisions that seek to guarantee fair treatment for wind, solar, and battery storage are novel, untested, and don't really end the war on clean energy, but they will still trigger cries of "Green New Deal" and fierce opposition from the House Freedom Caucus, clouding any path to pass this deal through the House unless it gets much worse. And knowing the GOP players, that's exactly what will happen if this bill advances in the lame duck.    The bottom line for me, and I believe most Democrats, is that November 3rd is coming and we are likely to soon have a far better negotiating position. Folding our hand now or in the lame duck makes no sense when we can keep working on this and, in a few more months, have a much better deal that works for everyone.

Trump is grasping at straws to make this arch happen – but each plan is dumber than the last.  The FAA already had to account for putting a 250-foot arch in the middle of flight paths. Now Trump wants to call it a “military complex” and launch drones from it, station snipers on top, and store ammunition inside. This new label doesn’t make all the problems with this monstrosity disappear, it’s just creating more.  Tune in to CNN tonight at 11 PM ET to hear more about why I’m pushing back.

Yosemite is not for sale. Full stop. I joined @RepHuffman, @RepJimCosta, @SenAlexPadilla, @SenAdamSchiff, and a bipartisan group of my colleagues to demand the Trump Administration stop its proposed Yosemite land transfer. Our national parks belong to the American people. Not private developers. Not political insiders. And not the highest bidder. We’ll keep fighting like hell to keep public lands in public hands.

President Trump said his proposed 250-foot triumphal arch will now be a “top grade” military complex that will house drones, snipers and ammunition “for National Security purposes.” wapo.st/4deuPN5

I’ve been against Trump’s arch from the start. Now, his own National Park Service is even admitting the harm this thing will cause. Do you know how we could avoid this harm? Don’t build the stupid thing. Trump has already left his gaudy mark on Washington. I won’t stand by while he tries to make his ego a permanent fixture of its historic landscape.
NEW: Trump admin says its 250-foot arch will harm dozens of historic sites, including the Lincoln Memorial & Arlington Cemetery, but must proceed anyway. This is despite its own finding that it will loom over the graves of America's fallen & interfere with burials as it goes up.

Agua es vida. Water is life and key to Tribal sovereignty. My bill passed committee today to help the Navajo Nation and Taos, Nambé, Pojoaque, San Ildefonso and Tesuque Pueblos recover lost settlement funds and build water infrastructure. It already passed the Senate thanks to @SenatorLujan. Now, let’s pass the bill in the House!

The clock is ticking, Trump. We’re coming full force for your slush funds, sweetheart deals, donor kickbacks, vanity projects, family enrichment schemes, and every other way you’ve spent taxpayer money on yourself and your friends. The investigations are underway. The receipts are piling up. And the American people are going to find out exactly where their money went.
Democrats hope to retake control of the House in November’s midterm elections, and to use that power to probe President Trump’s business ventures, legal maneuvers and policies. These are the priorities now emerging: wapo.st/4A4L4pL

Trump and his puppet Lee Zeldin have a vision for the EPA that is entirely backwards: big polluters come first, and Americans pay the price. I know science is hard for these guys, so let’s put this more simply: gutting science-based standards so giant power plants can pump more climate pollution means more extreme weather, dirtier air, and more of us footing the bill.

Signed up for a free "Freedom 250" event or bought 250th merch? Your data may have been secretly harvested by Trump’s campaign. Our investigation found Trump used America’s 250th birthday to harvest Americans' data to try and influence the upcoming midterm elections.

This administration is completely out of touch with Americans. While groceries and rent are through the roof, they’re racing to build Trump’s tacky gilded arch that will desecrate our nation’s most sacred ground.

The arch is a ridiculous, rushed, and poorly planned monstrosity that disrespects our veterans and will disrupt flights and the people who live here. I’ve been fighting against this with my Democratic colleagues since the start, meanwhile Republicans have stepped aside to let Trump and his lackey Burgum plow ahead. But it will be a different story next year when they have to face a Democratic Congress that will do some real oversight into this lawless admin.
Trump is emboldened on his construction agenda, following the Supreme Court's ballroom ruling. Burgum announced today work will start on Trump's arch. DOJ lawyers also asked a federal judge today to throw out a legal challenge to arch, citing SCOTUS ballroom ruling precedent.
