To celebrate Irelands EU Presidency I am releasing a statement of No Confidence in Research Ireland who are not capable of supporting the development of citizen science following the launch of the iPhone
reddit.com/r/openlittermap/sโฆ
But is it a good enough reason to support the development of citizen science somewhere like a university following the launch of the iPhone?
๐ BLOW-INS! A new species for Ireland.

Glad to hear they prioritise financial accountability. Whatโs the plan for environmental data collection with โฌ18b for x2 depts of education during the eu presidency? What will @MichealMartinTD @EUCssrMcGrath @lawlessj @SimonHarrisTD achieve for citizen science, democracy and statistics?

NEW - Irish disinformation and "fake news" expert Tom Felle, appointed by Irelandโs online speech regulator as an expert assessor, falsely claimed a journalism doctorate from City, University of London that was never awarded.
โWhen people get access to data collection technology we will make sure they receive absolutely no training or educationโ
Probably part of the climate action strategy or maybe one of the sustainable development goals.

โฌ18b for x2 depts of education with no pathway for postgraduate innovation but the expert fact checker lied about having a PhD and the university didnโt even check ๐ฌ
Tom Felle, the journalism lecturer at the University of Galway is now not responding to questions about his faked Phd, which he initially defended as genuine, forcing RTE to file Freedom of Information requests and an appeal. With that scale of deception, Felle is likely for the high jump.
What sort of questions might Felle be asked? "Tom, did you defraud the Fulbright scholarship programme of โฌ10,000's with your fake Phd?"
The more serious questions are for his employer, the University of Galway - led by President David Burn with ex-FF minister Maire Geoghegan Quinn leading its governance body - which says that Felle's fake qualifications are a "private and internal matter"
Not when students and funders have been deceived. The taxpayer sinks โฌ100m+ into that university each year, so the FF higher education minister James Lawless might find himself in the firing line if there are no answers forthcoming.
Institution claiming authority of digital does nothing to support the development of citizen science

wonder how many times this happens, and existence of reports is never mentioned
Fantastic news to see Irish civil servants step up and protest against the unqualified horseshit endemic across our broken systems
Next week's major European Union-led event in Dublin, dubbed the largest diplomatic event in Irish history, will face significant disruption as thousands of civil servants plan to strike, sources have said.

Citizen science fixes this - but was the launch of the iPhone a good enough reason to support research in data collection at a university with billions in funding for several inter-related departments?
Britain is decaying. Walk down any ordinary high street and youโre looking at a country where local and national governments have stopped caring about civic pride - despite financially punishing local businesses with numerous tax increases.
Boarded-up shops with peeling paint and graffiti tags. Vape shops everywhere. Boarded windows. Road signs covered in dirt. Weeds in the pavements. Road drains blocked.
The litter is everywhere and it is getting worse. Keep Britain Tidy found only about one in ten places completely clear of rubbish. In the poorest areas it is three times worse.
The roads are a national embarrassment. Roadworks that continue in certain places for 2 years. Potholes that destroy cars while local councils glibly talk about community strategies.
This is what managed decline looks like when nobody in charge is willing to enforce basic civic standards, spend our taxes wisely or admit that Britain is decaying. Dirty streets, decaying towns and a quiet dismal acceptance that this is just how Britain is now. It isnโt acceptable. It was allowed to happen.

Fantastic day for a nationwide protest

Everyone hopes the public sector industrial dispute is resolved by then.
Broken systems run by incompetent management
Why rich Ireland still feels poor ft.trib.al/ql1fStF
@grok what do you think about this
Imagine accepting a digital surveillance wallet from Irelands broken systems that canโt even support research in citizen data collection following the launch of the iPhone
EU law says every Member State has to offer citizens a digital identity wallet by the end of 2026. That deadline lands while Ireland holds the EU Council presidency.
So the country chairing the room also has two months to hand in its own homework.
