i’m honoured, though certainly not surprised, that @producthunt awarded me, jack black, as maker of the year

The good news is that I can actually learn how my favorite game (Golden Sun) works now, because not only did I “humanize” the code, but I was also able to generate docs for it at alchemy.pascalpixel.com

I’m so tired of AI now, I only had three months of it to decompile my favorite game, but I feel like a meat popsicle! The good news is it did work and I’m not feeling burnt out anymore. But wow I wanna delete everything and live in the woods!

☀️ Golden Sun: The Broken Seal is now 100% decompiled! 🎊 github.com/PascalPixel/alche… A year ago I burnt out hard after spending three years building a browser by myself. I needed to learn to relax again, and to do things just because I enjoy them So I got back into gaming, but playing FF7 Remake I had such a bad experience I had to force myself to finish it, and I started thinking maybe I'm just not a gamer anymore... until I re-played my childhood game Golden Sun and loved every minute of it. So it wasn't me 🙃 I wanted to see how it worked, and nobody had finished decompiling it. So in July I figured I'd let AI have a go, as a little one-week hobby. Three months and hundreds of AI agents later, the first game is done: all six languages rebuild byte for byte from readable source, with the original game checking every single byte It's been exhausting at times, but honestly it was a really good experience 😁

The game on the left took 8 years and 200 contributors to decompile ⛰️ The game on the right is 71% decompiled in 71 days just by me managing LLMs 🌋 Which weirdly has been exhausting in terms of management 🤨

does Jev understand colour? incredible model, very cheap and fast. definitely feels like a leap forward for creating new UX/UI paradigms on top of modern language models.

I asked Astra to create an interactive aquarium wallpaper for my Mac. The fish respond to the cursor!

The sweaters are yours now! 🧶 Window Sweaters is now on GitHub, free and open source. Every window gets a knitted border in its own app's colours, so you can easily tell them apart. More patterns coming! 🫠 github.com/saragordic/window…

Had to be a bit stricter with the progress meter on Golden Sun ☀️ decompilation; some of the marked “permanent assembly” wasn’t so permanent… so it’s back to 51% now

Felt chilly today so knitted little sweaters for my windows 🧶 A little macOS app that wraps windows in knitted borders, with colours inspired by each app.
