With Jagtar Singh Johal released on bail on 1 October @FCDOGovUK @Ed_Miliband have the levers, in part mentioned in @HouseofCommons on 15 October: Diplomatic Protection, Indian government interference to try and block Delhi High Court decision and no show by protected witness on 14 October to get the Indian authorities to drop charges and get Jagtar home ASAP. @PreetKGillMP @Jas_Athwal @TanDhesi @WarinderSJuss @harpreetkuppal @Labour_Douglas @Reprieve @redress keep up your efforts. Many MPs and the public will have serious questions for @ukhomeoffice @FCDOGovUK if Jagtar is not home soon.

No doubt you are doing everything in your power in your role to get Jagtar Singh Johal home to be with his family. This should be a priority since Jagtar’s release from prison in Delhi after nearly 9 years on 1 October. The @FCDOGovUK Minister’s response in the debate on the detention of Jagtar Singh Johal in @HouseofCommons on Thursday suggests incompetence or the UK Government continues to run scared of the Indian authorities. This must change. MPs specifically asked on Thursday in @UKParliament what you were doing to get Jagtar home. They failed to get an answer. As a minimum you should write to @Labour_Douglas @TanDhesi @zubirahmed @deirdrecostigan @PJFerguson18 @amcarmichaelMP @Jas_Athwal @WarinderSJuss

This suggestion was made to @10DowningStreet @FCDOGovUK @UKConsularEnvoy before and after Jagtar came out of prison on 1 October. Disappointingly staff at the British High Commission in Delhi managed by @Lindy_Cameron could not be bothered to meet and support an innocent British national, Jagtar (after 9 years) following his torture as he walked out of Tihar jail in Delhi. This showed how much they cared or were on the ball. See our press releases below dated 1 and 2 October. @Lindy_Cameron is taking up the role of Permanent Secretary at @FCDOGovUK on Monday 19 October. Hopefully, in her new role she will make sure the failings of the past are put right and FCDO can get Jagtar back to the UK to be with his family where he belongs.
