✨Some news ✨
Today is my first day as Data Editor at @PhillyInquirer! I started my career learning from Inquirer reporters and it’s a real thrill to join a news organization I’ve admired for so long. So excited!

I've rebooted my #NJDevils performance tracker for the season. Here's who I have as my top 5 so far.
Updates after every game here: sstirling.github.io/devils-g…
The #NJDevils have never had a 100-point player. No one touch Jack Hughes for the rest of the year.
Bob Harvie and the Democrats improved in every voter precinct in the 1st district en route to victory in Pa.
@fallonroth_ with much more. @JoeYerardi and @jduchneskie with the map.

A third of immigration arrests in Pa. in July were carried out by local law enforcement, not ICE. This comes as agreements between DHS and local law enforcement continue to climb.

It won't get the same attention as Bennett and Mullock, but Dems in NJ also went a long way to replenishing their bench. Sweeping wins at lower levels of state gov't give them new options for the party's future.
Unaffiliated voters and Democrats are driving voter registration in Pa. this year. @JoeYerardi, @mlbaruchman, @fallonroth_ & Al Lubrano with more on how it could shape this year's election.

The region had a legendary October, weather-wise.
High temps largely between 60-80 degrees. Only a few rain days.
In Philly, no October featured less clouds going back 50+ years.
An election-themed NJ ceremonial resolution!
AJR199 would designate Election Day as Bring Your Adult Child to Vote Day.
Since 2000, NJ legislators have introduced more than 3,000 ceremonial bills and resolutions

Political subterfuge knows no bounds or geography in 2026. In Morris Twp, a local resident has taken control of the town subreddit and is using it to harass candidates of one party with deeply personal attacks.
All for some open town committee posts. Bleak.
SimPhilly rises. Giving a talk at @RowanUniversity on mapping in a few weeks, so decided to build an isometric model of Philly using public data. Progress!
Every time people beat up on Newark, NJ they are punching down on decades of systemic negligence, largely doled out to a Black community, in a still vibrant and culturally relevant city of hundreds of thousands.
But sure, that Newark joke is really funny, good, and needed.
Farewell and best wishes to Dawson Mercer and his legendary hockey hair flow. A great Devil from the get go.

After 10 games, Connor McDavid is on pace for 260 points with 31 points in 10 games.
Probably fantasy to think he'll keep this pace, but we're witnessing something truly special.
The take here is secondary to a legendary improv performance at the end by one of NYC's great unknown talents.
Inspired by the work of Boris Starkov on tiny.london and Andy Coenen on isometric.nyc, I'm attempting to build Pixeldelphia.
