This Woman Crush Wednesday, we’re celebrating the women creating safer digital spaces for everyone. Their work reminds us that nobody should have to put up with abuse just because it happens on the internet. From pushing for accountability to ensuring data is accessible and useful, creating safer digital spaces means making sure people’s rights and safety are taken seriously. These are some reflections by Moyosore Ale speaking at the last edition of Safe Space Africa webinar on Who Controls Africa's Civic Space? Did you miss the last SSA webinar? We have another one coming up on 25th November. See you there! 🤩

Before Nigeria can effectively address technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), we need a clear understanding of what it means and how it should be addressed. At our National Policy Dialogue, Abdullahi Aliyu, Deputy Manager at National Information Technology Development Agency (@NITDANigeria) , highlighted the need for a shared understanding of TFGBV and clear responsibilities across government agencies, regulators, and technology platforms. When institutions approach the problem differently, it becomes harder to determine who is responsible for what. Our Toxic Tech report recommends that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) work together to develop a clear national framework for addressing TFGBV. This should clarify the responsibilities of relevant institutions and establish how they should work together to respond to cases. With over 50 Digital Champions across Asaba and a booth at Ogbe-Ogonogo Market, traders can access timely support as they take the SheTrades Digital course. Beyond making digital skills accessible, we’re meeting traders where they are, using familiar languages like Igbo, pidgin, and English to make learning easier. Our Digital Champions guide participants through the course, answer questions, and provide support along the way.

Our Toxic Tech report found that 69.7% of women with disabilities surveyed experienced technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). Our report calls for technology platforms to make accessibility a core part of their safety systems. This means: - Making reporting tools accessible: - Building accessibility into safety features: - Making content moderation more responsive - Improving access to redress To know more about the recommendations, read our toxic tech report here shorturl.at/UJEtH Women with disabilities should not have to work around inaccessible systems to get protection from online abuse. #ToxicTech #DigitalRights #OnlineSafety #DisabilityInclusion

Sometimes, the biggest impact of a training is what someone can take away and actually use in their business.

A flood report can tell you how many homes went under water. It can’t tell you what happened to the woman whose farm, shop, and savings went with them. For Ibiso Ikiroma-Owiye, that gap matters. Speaking on Reframing Climate Leadership Through Technology, she reminded us that every climate statistic stands in for real people and real losses. From flooded farmlands in the Middle Belt to eroding communities in the Southeast and drying fields in the North, women are living through Nigeria’s climate crisis every day. How have their lives changed? What have they lost? Who asked them before deciding what comes next? Technology helps us see the problem. The solutions still have to come from going into communities, listening, and giving women real power to shape them. #DARE2026 #ClimateLeadership #ClimateJustice

An early warning system can predict a flood. Getting decision-makers to act on that warning is a different job. On Reframing Climate Leadership Through Technology, Ameedat Adusalam argued that technology strengthens climate leadership but can’t carry it alone. Data helps women leaders understand a problem and build their case. Moving that case into policy takes policy knowledge, the skills to engage decision-makers, and access to funding. Across Nigeria, floods, extreme heat, and failing harvests are already reshaping livelihoods. The women leading the response need more than passion. They need the capacity and backing to turn their ideas into decisions. A seat at the table is only the start. Shaping what happens there takes tools and resources. #DARE2026 #ClimateLeadership #ClimateAction

Whose story gets lost when we talk about climate data? On Reframing Climate Leadership Through Technology, Ken Henshaw pushed us to look past the numbers and ask who carries the heaviest burden of environmental damage in Nigeria. When floods destroy farmland, when drought dries up water sources, when pollution ruins fishing grounds, whole communities suffer. Women often carry a disproportionate share of that loss as farmers, traders, and caregivers. Their experiences easily disappear inside aggregate data. Seeing the full picture means asking the questions numbers can’t answer and making sure women’s experiences count in decisions about climate action. #DARE2026 #ClimateLeadership #ClimateJustice

Our SheTrades Digital project covers a range of digital skills, but sometimes, the impact shows up in one simple thing a woman learns to do. For one of our beneficiaries, it was learning how to create a group chat for her business. One new skill. One new way for her business to grow. Because digital empowerment isn't only about learning how to use technology; it's about discovering practical ways to put it to work in your everyday life. And sometimes, the little things make a real difference. you're a female trader or entrepreneur, the SheTrades Digital Project is for you! A job application mistake is not consent to public humiliation. Sharing an applicant’s identifiable photo without their permission, then inviting the internet to laugh at them, is a breach of digital privacy and dignity. Digital consent means people get a say in how their images and personal information are shared. An opportunity to learn should never become content to shame someone. Learn more about digital consent here: xitter.cf/techherng/status/19407… #DigitalConsent #DigitalRights
As a jobseeker, it is very important that you always check the documents you upload before sending your application 🤌🏾🤌🏾. See what an applicant sent in 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️
