This astounding photo of the ostensible birthplace of Bob Wills near Kosse, Texas was taken by Norm Lanier. More photos and the story here: flickr.com/photos/normlanier…
He might be playing the "Pig Ankle Rag," which is a great tune for a Friday afternoon
You know he is a true friend when he plays you a fiddle tune while you drift off for the post lunch nap! #ArchivesBFF
Trío Paseador Hidalguense from Dallas plays son huasteco music, which is nowadays played across Texas. We have featured the Trío at our festival several times. Here they play "El Caballito" out behind Twin Sisters Dance Hall at our 7th Annual Festival.

The Festival of Texas fiddling awarded Jose Moreno our Master Texas Fiddler Award in 2015. He is a treasured true vine musician. Also equally adept at button accordion and mandolin!
The music of Jose Moreno harks back to a time over a hundred years ago, to the late 1800s when just a fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and perhaps a string bass made up an "orquesta tipica" or "conjunto regional" along the lower Rio Grande Valley (El Valle). @Folkways #americanamusic
Puro conjunto at the 7th Annual Festival of Texas Fiddling. Hall of Famer Felipe Perez learned to play from legendary Juan Lopez, who learned to play from his fiddling uncles. That's Texas music!
