Gram Wallet is live. Durov just announced it's ready and already in the hands of a select group of users, with a gradual rollout to a billion+ people over the next couple of weeks.
Today is the 31st of August. The last day of summer. He promised it this summer, and he shipped it with just a few hours to spare.
He thanked the validators who approved the smart contract, and said future upgrades won't require painful migrations.
That's the thing I broke down here three days ago. The wallet's code doesn't live in your account. It sits inside TON's network configuration, shared by every user at once. Improve it once and everyone's wallet improves at the same moment, with nothing to update and nothing to migrate.
Gradual rollout, exactly as expected. Check your app over the next two weeks.

Validators finished voting this morning, and Telegram's wallet code is now sitting inside TON blockchain itself.
They pushed a speed upgrade through at the same time, so the network handles way more traffic than it could yesterday.
And this code didn't exist publicly until yesterday. Under 20 hours from published to live on the network.
We still don't know the exact launch date. But back in July, Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, said this summer would see the largest rollout of a non-custodial wallet in history.
Summer ends Monday the 31st. So we'll likely see it on or before that day.

🚨 New Scam Alert: Fake Offer Names on Telegram Gifts.
There’s a new type of scam going around that targets Telegram gift holders, and it’s sneakier than you think.
- Here’s how it works:
The scammer changes their display name to a long string of text that mimics the offer notification message. So when you glance at the offer, it looks like you’re getting a massive payout.
Look at this image closely. At first glance, it seems like someone is offering 22,339 TON (around $30,001 USD) for a Plush Pepe #567 gift. Sounds like a great deal, right?
Wrong. That’s not the actual offer. That’s just the scammer’s display name.
The scammer renamed himself to: “Mike_NFTnft offered you 22,339 TON (~30,001.27 USD) and as a fee”
That fake name blends right into the real offer text below it, making the whole thing read like one seamless message. But if you look carefully, the only real offer is 125 Stars, which is worth less than $2 💀
So the scammer is banking on you seeing “$30K” and rushing to hit Accept without reading the details properly.
- How to protect yourself:
Always read the full offer message carefully before accepting anything. The actual offer amount is shown after “offered you” in the real system text, not in the sender’s name. Check the name separately from the offer details. If something looks too good to be true, it probably is. Slow down and look again. And when in doubt, just reject it, or ask questions in our community if you’re not sure what to do.
Stay sharp out there.

Yeah but this was already addressed ages ago.
Telegram sells $TON because it has to, not because it wants out. Ads, revenue sharing, minting and upgrading usernames, gifts, Premium, Stars and other in app payments all settle through TON one way or another. As Telegram scales, it naturally accumulates TON from these flows.
Letting a single entity sit on such a large share of supply would be unhealthy for decentralization, and Durov understood that early.
So excess $TON is sold in a controlled way to long term buyers, with lockups and vesting, to cap Telegram’s share around ~10% and avoid concentration. That’s exactly what Durov explained back in 2024.
If Telegram wasn’t committed to TON, it wouldn’t be building core monetization on it or planning even deeper integration this 2026.

To the extent this post (by @mdudas, who’s generally quite brilliant) might call into question Telegram’s commitment to @ton_blockchain it only makes sense to politely set the record straight:
1) All $TON sold by Telegram has four-year vesting.
2) The by far largest buyer of Telegram’s $TON was @tonstrat (NASDAQ: $TONX) which I happen to Chair – and this is a permanent capital vehicle whose main purpose is to accumulate, hold and stake TON – not a source or overhang of future selling supply.
3) Telegram’s net (!) TON holdings shouldn’t haven’t declined meaningfully from Dec24 to Dec25 - indeed, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out that Telegram’s $TON holdings have even grown over this period - at least measured in $TON coins (not USD fiat).
So in my humble opinion, the only paragraphs worth highlight from an otherwise poorly researched FT article, are:
1) Telegram said: “…accuracy is evidently less compelling than sensationalism” (this great line might well become a @durov classic).
2) “Durov was prioritising improving the Ton ecosystem and further incorporating the crypto into the Telegram platform in 2026”. This much is true!
Anyone questioning @durov’s or @telegram’s commitment to $TON is in for wake up call in 1H2026.

BREAKING: Durov addresses the bond FUD
There has been a lot of noise around Telegram bonds after reports that about $500M worth of older bonds are frozen due to sanctions linked to Russia. That naturally triggered speculation around Telegram’s exposure and ownership.
Durov has now addressed it directly. He says Telegram has zero dependence on Russian capital. The recent $1.7 Billion bond offering had no Russian investors at all, and most of the old 2021 bonds have already been repaid and pose no issue.
He also clarifies an important point: bondholders are not shareholders, and he remains the sole shareholder of Telegram.
