Why do I believe Blokyz can build a successful IP in Web3?
Got asked this on a call earlier this week. Sat with it for a bit and figured I will just write down where my head is at.
Honestly it's a valid question. There are only a handful of real success stories among Web3 IPs. Pudgy, Clayno, GVC, Chimpers, Quirkies and a few others have done really well; many others have tried, but with limited success.
The biggest problem in my view is distribution. A lot of web3 IPs try to crack it by going after web2 audiences and that bridge is rough. We've seen it from both sides. Our team has spent years scaling IPs for some of the top gaming brands in web2. And a couple of years ago we also bootstrapped a comic marketplace where we onboarded 500+ web2 creators onto web3 monetisation rails. For every creator who came on, we were probably talking to five. Four out of those five would back out the moment web3 or NFTs came up. They thought it was a scam. I believe that changes as the space matures. But right now, that bridge is real.
So we're going the other way. We want to grow inside web3 first. Work with the brands and communities that are already here and make high quality designer collectibles for them.
The collectibles are central to our vision. Something physical you can hold, place on your desk builds a connection that something only digital can't. Currently we are already working with 20+ web3 brands who have over 15M+ users between them. That gives us a way to show up in front of real communities, organically, with something special and tangible in their hands.
We are also building our own universe of characters in parallel that will give us the freedom to explore the IP through various lenses in the long term. But the partnerships and the collectibles is what will give us reach among real collectors early on.
Building an IP takes years. We know that. But if someone asks me why I think we have a shot - this is it!
Me: “I’ll just buy 5”
Also me, a little later 👀
66 @OriginalBlokyz and counting 😂🙈
When you genuinely love something, somehow collecting becomes a hobby you never signed up for 🤣❤️
I guess self control left the chat a long time ago….
But hey, some people collect memories, I collect @OriginalBlokyz 😆✨

Congratulations @gokiaDFX, the first collector to own all 71 archetypes, across 6 eras and 3 factions.
To put that in perspective, only 5 such sets can ever exist. A number of these pieces are 1 of 5, 1 of 10, 1 of 15 and so on. Moreover some of these pieces sat with collectors who have never sold a single Bloky. Gokia found them anyway. Set the trait offers, reached out one by one, and kept going until he had all 71.
When we built this collection, we hoped someone would one day care about it this much. We just did not know who it would be. Now we do.
Truly proud and honoured to have you in the Blokyz family ❤️
With the last addition to my @OriginalBlokyz collection.
I can officially say I collected each one of the 71 archetypes.
Holding 218 Blokyz
71 archetypes
6 1/5 archetypes was a challenge.
I’m I done?👀👀

71 different Blokyz archetypes completed by @gokiaDFX!
At first, this huge variety was met with skepticism and rejection, as often happens with anything new.
But think about it.
How does this make less sense than a 10K collection where you can barely tell most NFTs apart, except for a few rare ones?
I think this is a fresh approach for collections, and I’m personally all in on it. (IYKYK, you heard it here first😏)
It’s more fun collecting at Blokyz.

Wow. Woke up to this. Congratulations @gokiaDFX ! I know this was not easy.
There are 71 archetypes, and only 5 complete sets like this can ever exist. Moreover, 6 of the archetypes are 1/5s, so owning every single one takes real conviction and dedication.
A few days ago I was helping Gokia find a Chief Shaman, and it took almost two weeks to convince a passionate collector to let go of one. Big thanks to @breyonchain for making that trade happen.
I honestly did not expect anyone to get here so soon, especially even before we have rolled out the collector portal. Feeling quite blessed to see a collector culture at @OriginalBlokyz that already runs this deep.

The Doktor is kind of a super villain in the Blokyverse.
The design for this character was inspired from the Plague doctors mask.
If one were to look at the medieval era, The Doktor would be generally considered the darkest of the mages
Named Ones: The Doktor
It is generally believed that Kleytor was born in The Peaks, a rough place that needed a certain roughness to thrive. Whether he was an orphan or simply estranged from his parents is not known. What is certain is that Kleytor grew up alone, fending for himself.
Magic came naturally to him, which made him both an asset and a target. He soon found himself on a pirate vessel, where he was needed for his talent and never fully trusted because of it. But piracy took him to every corner of the world: the dark, the grim, the fantastical and the forbidden.
Kleytor kept learning, kept getting stronger and kept getting more ruthless. He wormed his way into the leadership of a small island off the coast of The Peaks. Once his hold on the island was absolute, it was cut off from the traditional trade routes and became a haven for pirates and slavers.
There Kleytor built his notorious lab and dressed it up as a hospital for unsuspecting visitors. Many who entered never stepped out. Inside, he performed experiments of varying degrees of monstrosity. The lab is how he earned his moniker, The Doktor.
It is believed this is where he conjured the now-banned potion Zorment, or Chemical Z. The same chemical responsible for The Moonless Massacre and the subsequent exile, hunt and disappearance of The Doktor.

BLOKYZ (@OriginalBlokyz) - 33.9% of tracked buyer wallets have NO recorded sale.
More than ONE IN THREE have never sold their NFT!
Looking at buyer behaviour, and wanted to continue my admiration for this project!
That 33.9% represents wallets that have bought BLOKYZ without appearing as a seller in the trading data. It’s the “diamond hands” metric I’m following.
Why does that interest me?
Collections benefit from people who stick around. Collectors who recognise each other, share their favourite traits, welcome newcomers and build friendships around the art.
Holding rather than immediately reselling can also reduce the supply returning to market. Combined with an active community, that patience gives a project room to develop beyond its launch.
I love finding characters I want in my collection and seeing other people develop their own favourites. I will hold my BLOKYZ forever!
In a market this slow, I’m encouraged to see more than a third of tracked buyer wallets with no recorded sale.
This is a huge W for the Team and Community IMO!

Wondering why Blokyz isn't showing more strength here when it's the only really hack-proof asset on the market, re-pricing soon
Thank you Papii. Means a lot coming from you ❤️
Next project I gotta show some love to is @OriginalBlokyz
Since the day @Tma_420 introduced me to @Ukj1111 and @MonkOnTheBlok I knew these guys were going to do great things in the space
Another legend and friend @lokithebird also joined the team and the coolest part about Blokyz is that their physical collectibles are a huge part of the future
It has been a rough few weeks for the space. On our side, the quieter market has meant more time to focus. I have personally always felt it is much easier to build when there is less noise.
Last few weeks we have been heads down building what will drive the next leg of growth for the @OriginalBlokyz ecosystem. A lot is happening behind the scenes across tech, partnerships and community experiences.
Looking forward to seeing the Blokyz army grow in the coming months.
