Università di Trieste

We are proud to lead, as project coordinators, a partnership qualified by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) in the development of the ProFOSS research project, dedicated to the creation of a Floating Electrical Substation for the transformation and connection to the National Transmission Grid (RTN) of offshore wind energy. For us, this journey marks a new course towards the energy transition, where the strength of collaboration becomes the wind that drives innovation. At our side are outstanding partners such as Rina Consulting S.p.A., the University of Naples Federico II – Department of Industrial Engineering, and the University of Trieste – Department of Engineering and Architecture. Together, we are working on the development of a modular and scalable Floating Offshore Substation (FOSS) concept, the definition of a general regulatory framework, the study of wind farm management and control system architecture, and the execution of tank tests to validate numerical simulations. The distinctive element of ProFOSS lies in the integration, never before achieved, of existing and developing elements, to create an essential solution for the operation and management of offshore wind farms and for the distribution of energy to the national grid. We believe that the best innovation is the one that becomes industry, and with ProFOSS we aim to be pioneers of a more efficient and forward-looking energy future. @MASE_IT @UniTrieste @UninaIT @RINA1861
