💡 Did you know you can live with just one kidney? Many people with one healthy kidney have normal kidney function and few or no health problems. The remaining kidney can adapt and increase its function to compensate for the missing one. 🩺 However, regular medical follow-up can help monitor kidney function and identify any potential problems early. #WorldKidneyDay #KidneyHealthMatters

An engaging day, with high level conversations, commitments at a multi stakeholder meeting in Mumbai. Thank you @Hriday_Org for taking our views. @kidney_warriors @sundar_s1955 @ap_mittal
From Silos to Synergy: Converging multi-stakeholder actions on health and health in Maharashtra A consortium led by HRIDAY, Secretariat of the Healthy India Alliance/India NCD Alliance convened the Second Maharashtra Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Impact of Extreme Heat on Cardio-Kidney-Metabolic Diseases (CKMDs) in collaboration with Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), JSW Centre for Climate Change and Health and Mumbai First. The consultation was powered by senior officers from the Public Health Department, Directorate of Health Services, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Public Health and Disaster Management departments, India Meteorological Department (Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai), Port Health Organisation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with active engagement of civil society and research organisations, academia, professional associations, community based organisations and lived experience champions. Chaired by Dr. Nitin Ambadekar, Director, Health Services, the high-level convening examined how the draft Maharashtra Multi-Stakeholder Heat and Health Action Plan can translate into practical action, aligned with state priorities. HRIDAY has been given the mandate to consolidate ongoing efforts of multiple partners into a common repository so that areas of synergy and expertise can be identified and leveraged. Key highlights: ➡️ Define an actionable mandate for the health system. Identify immediate targets that reflect Maharashtra’s current capacities, with clear responsibilities for heat preparedness and continuity of care for people living with NCDs. ➡️ Anchor heat-health action through robust occupational health protocols. Revise standard operating procedures and occupational heat protection guidelines to address escalating heat risks, with practical guidelines to protect exposed workers. ➡️ Operationlise departmental convergence and data sharing. Institutionalise an inter-departmental coordination mechanism for meteorological forecasting, health programmes, disaster management initiatives, municipal administration and other line departments, to work in tandem, through shared implementation priorities. ➡️ Translate the Action Plan into facility-level readiness. Establish what primary health centres and other facilities can deliver within their existing capacities, and identify the practical measures required to strengthen heat-responsive NCD care. ➡️ Anchor protection in community needs through meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs in priority-setting. @HIA_NCD @ncdalliance @thePHFI @mumbaifirst @mybmc @Indiametdept @RMC_Mumbai @MoHFW_INDIA @MahaDGIPR @ncdalliance @UNICEFIndia @CEEWIndia @PATHtweets @NRDC_India @IISERPune @kidney_warriors @AdityaBirlaGrp @c40cities @TISSpeak @NCDCMoHFW @WHO @WHOSEARO @IecMaha @IcohOrg @Artha__Global @NPCCHH @CMOMaharashtra @IndiaHealthFund #HRIDAY #HealthyIndiaAlliance #HeatAndHealth #ExtremeHeat #CKMDs #ClimateAndHealth #HeatActionPlan #NCDs #Maharashtra #PublicHealth #HRIDAY #MultiSectoralAction #CommunityEngagement
