We are beginning a major mobility initiative in Nallurhalli, a 2km project to improve movement, and pedestrian facilities. The first of the work begins tomorrow, Sunday, Oct 4 at 7am. See invite. Read the thread for the details on the work that has led to this point over the course of one year. ### 🚨 NALLURHALLI, LET’S GET MOVING! 🚨 This Sunday, we’re turning an idea into action. Whitefield Rising and local residents are coming together to kick off a 2-km mobility improvement initiative in Nallurhalli — a community-led effort to tackle congestion and make our neighbourhood easier to move through. And it starts with 40 metres - SEE THE ABOVE PICTURE! A local landowner has stepped forward and given up a portion of his property frontage so the road can be widened and made motorable. The groundwork is done. The steel is in place. Now we pour the concrete. 💪🏽 📍 Sunday, Oct 4 | 7 AM 📍 Near Shiva Temple, Nallurhalli 📍 Location: maps.app.goo.gl/4Q1UsJg4PS6n… Come be there as we mark the first step of a much bigger community effort. Because fixing our neighbourhoods cannot always wait for someone else to do it. - Residents can identify the problem. - Residents can come together. - Residents can make things happen. This is 40 metres. We’re here for the 2 kilometres. Come join us. Bring your energy. Bring your neighbours. Let’s get Nallurhalli moving! 🚀
Nallurhalli New Temple Road: 2km loop initiative, and a community determined to fix it. If you commute through Nallurhalli, you know it can feel like playing the live version of Temple Run every single day. 😅 For the last year, Whitefield Rising and local residents have been working together to tackle the bottlenecks that make this 2-km loop so difficult for commuters, pedestrians and residents.

Bengaluru has lost more than 43 lakh names from its electoral roll in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), with its electorate shrinking from 1.03 crore to just 59.08 lakh. The city, which accounted for the highest number of deletions in Karnataka during the draft stage, was also disproportionately affected during the subsequent notice and hearing process, with nearly half of all notices issued across the State concentrated here. thehindu.com/news/cities/ban…

5:15 AM. Two homes, two alarms, and two sleepy students, Ramesh and Ramya, stepping onto their buses while the sky is still deciding what colour to be. Out on #SH35, the day's first wave is already rolling: two-wheelers, office cabs, delivery riders, other school buses, all heading the same way. And oh did I mention water tankers, lots of them! This week, back from the break, the two of them noticed something the moment they settled into their seats. The road looked wider. Room to breathe, room to move. Some work was done while they were away, and some is still going on. So, a thank you, out loud, to everyone working on this stretch. It shows, and it matters. There's still ground to cover. The same potholes that jolt Ramesh's bus slow the IT professional's cab behind it, and the minutes Ramya loses are lost by every vehicle behind her. It isn't a school story or a commuter story. It's our road, and we all share it. Today's bus log (no rain) •32 of 61 reporting buses reached school by the 07:30 bell (44 on Monday) •Average ride home: 71 minutes (63 on Monday) •Buses from Brigade Exotica (Old Madras Road), Clarence High (Richards Town) and Chrysalis High (Budigere Road) arrived 13 to 14 minutes after the bell •Photos from this morning's buses show how full the road was Meanwhile I just got home from school! My commute from school to home took 85 min to cover 10 km. Gunjur-Varthur stretch saw a 27 minute traffic jam (see pic). The potholes made it challenging Every day looks a little different, and we will keep logging to see what the new work changes. Thank you for reading along, and for sharing the road with us. @krishnabgowda @PriyankKharge @GBAChiefComm @blrcitytraffic @wftrps @CPBlr @Jointcptraffic @DCPTrEastBCP @GBA_office @BPACofficial @dcpwhitefield @WFRising @sarjapuraps @SarjapuraRWA @rk_misra @MansoorKhanINC @PCMohanMP @MALimbavali @ArvindLBJP @MLAShivanna #BetterBengaluru #OurMobilityOurVoice #SH35

#WhatYouCanDo Stellar work by HSR! That each of us can follow to take charge to make the community we want. See trees being choked with concrete in your area. Check the video on what to do. instagram.com/reel/DeG_8N_Ma…

Lakes of Bangalore are under threat from the construction frenzy. The reason for a lot of the rain related flooding issue is because buildings and institutions have come up on lake beds - case in point, Majestic Bus Stand. And here we are, not learning the lessons of the recent past. Rushing to make it all worse.
Bengaluru’s largest lake citizens’ group has urged the GBA not to rush through its proposed road network, warning of the threat to lakes and their buffer zones By 2040, they felt Bengaluru could be looking at creating new lakes to replace the ones sacrificed to development today

Over the past week, B-SMILE has re-invited bids for nine flyover projects across Bengaluru after cancelling the earlier tenders. Among them, the proposed flyover on the Old Madras Road–Hosur Road stretch has been revised, with the Indiranagar alignment dropped.

why do we “fix” footpaths that go viral and not the ones that are broken? 10 months ago, double road indiranagar got "fixed”. it has become deadly again. just 850 m of footpath has 21 serious problems. so yesterday i recorded both sides. ran it through our footpath model: here’s what came out: (full walk link in comments) > every spot that needs fixing, geotagged with a 360° view
 > who's responsible for each one: name, department, contact number (call them) imagine if every footpath in the city is recorded twice a month (more on this soon). GBA finds the problems instead of waiting for complaints. walking the double road footpath again this sunday to check what gets fixed. @GBA_office @caleb_friesen
Going for a walk in India often feels like a video game. On the footpath you're dodging: - Holes - Hoardings - Construction - Electrical boxes And when you finally give up and hit the road you're brushing shoulders with autos, wrong-side drivers, buses and water tankers.

26 Oct #BackToSchool hoping for a #BetterBengaluru starting with #SH35 As #Bengaluru settles back into its school routine, today gave us another useful data point on the SH-35 corridor. 44 of our 62 buses reached school by 7:30 am. The evening journey home was better and averaged 17.3 km/h, with 5 of 61 routes taking over 100 minutes. With some schools still on break and no rain today, these numbers need context. We will keep tracking as more schools return, comparing journeys, identifying patterns and understanding where better coordination and infrastructure improvements could make a lasting difference. For the 40,000+ children who use this corridor, their teachers and families, reliable journeys mean more time for learning, growth, rest and life beyond school. They also help faculty arrive ready to teach, with more energy for their students. We appreciate the efforts of traffic police and civic agencies. Our hope is that sustained progress will allow us to restore normal school hours and reclaim learning time lost to traffic. This is a shared road and a shared responsibility. Let’s keep working on it together as schools, families, fellow commuters and civic agencies. @krishnabgowda @PriyankKharge @GBAChiefComm @blrcitytraffic @wftrps @CPBlr @Jointcptraffic @DCPTrEastBCP @GBA_office @BPACofficial @dcpwhitefield @WFRising @sarjapuraps @SarjapuraRWA @rk_misra @MansoorKhanINC @PCMohanMP @MALimbavali @ArvindLBJP @MLAShivanna #OurMobilityOurVoice

Every school day, about 40,000 children travel on #SH35 between Whitefield and Sarjapur Road. This week, two students, one in primary school and one in senior school, show us the road through their eyes. Tomorrow, we meet them. Same alarm: 5:15. Two different roads. #OurMobilityOurVoice #BetterBengaluru @krishnabgowda @PriyankKharge @GBAChiefComm @blrcitytraffic @wftrps @CPBlr @Jointcptraffic @DCPTrEastBCP @GBA_office @BPACofficial @dcpwhitefield @WFRising @sarjapuraps @SarjapuraRWA @rk_misra @MansoorKhanINC @PCMohanMP @MALimbavali @ArvindLBJP @MLAShivanna
