🔥 We went undercover to investigate DPRK IT workers and captured their activity firsthand for the second time Together with @north_scan, @MauroEldritch @BirminghamCyber and @anyrun_app, we created a fake startup and observed weeks of activity linked to the DPRK IT worker scheme From their tools to their workflows, the investigation gives a rare look inside the operation 👀
🔥 We “hired” Lazarus APT remote workers — and uncovered their toolkit. @BirminghamCyber & @north_scan used #ANYRUN Sandbox to capture weeks of Famous Chollima activity inside a fake startup. 👀 How not to let a spy in? See full story and videos: any.run/cybersecurity-blog/l…

🇰🇵 For a few months, I posed as a recruiter and engaged a DPRK persona known as Jason Kwon, who appeared to be operating as hightechrun shortly after news of m00n was shared. He later introduced himself as Roy Hensley. At the present, there is a possibility his current alias is on a shared upwork profile. Without knowing when that profile was put into play, it’s unconfirmed if that alias has entered any projects or been exposed. Some of this will be familiar to researchers who follow DPRK activity as this wasn’t attribution built from scratch. It started with existing research from @zachxbt being publicly shared and some tracking by @intell_on_chain (@rugpullfinder). During our conversations and conveniently in the Beanstalk discord, he shared the 0xm00n GitHub account and later explained it as an “agency” account. I used decoy documents, and CanaryTokens to collect what was possible about working environments. The summary covers the identity changes I could follow and connections collected during the small engagement. I’m publishing this now because I want to get back into documenting, not leaving helpful info sitting in DMs, screenshots, and drafts. Additional context can help someone else connect an account, recognize a recycled persona, or pick up a thread you couldn’t follow further. Link to medium article ⬇️ and thanks to all involved in this. @0xfigo has recently shared some work done behind the scenes with @north_scan involving tracking DPRK so I’m mentioning that as a resource available for those doing work on our beloved IT Workers. medium.com/@0xsaiyangod/meet…

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

Ledger Flex sold at Singapore Airport confirmed to contain a spy implant! @BenYorke found suspicious marks on his @Ledger and sent it to me rather than using it, that was probably the best decision here. youtube.com/watch?v=Nf4FEFlg… xitter.cf/BenYorke/status/210908…
I have a $300 @Ledger Flex that I bought from the Singapore airport in summer (Metapod, should be fine?) I never plugged it in but it looks like theres some scratches on the casing, an indication of potential tampering? Anyways theres no way i can trust it (or Ledger) now

This looks like this could be exactly what I'm investigating. Anyone affected, please contact me or open your ledger and send me pictures so we can confirm if there's a bug in there (pictures: ledger board on top, spy implant below). xitter.cf/Ledger_Support/status/…
Ledger is investigating reports of loss of funds from users in South East Asia who purchased products from a reseller named CryptoBillis. As a precaution, and pending the results of our investigation, we have asked CryptoBilis to pause all sales and shipments of Ledger devices. We recommend Ledger users who purchased from this reseller in the last 90 days to not initiate set up if you have not done so yet. If you have set up your Ledger device, consider moving assets to a new Ledger signer (with new seed). We will continue to inform customers of updates as the investigation progresses. Reach out to Ledger customer support through official channels with any questions: support.ledger.com/

Replying to @moo9000
Left to right: e-SIM, CPU with firmware able to recognize Ledger's font as shown on screen and capture words as they appear on screen, and a LTE module that can connect once the seed has been fully captured.

My spy-implanted ledger came from Malaysia, and had flawless shrink wrap. Even opening it, at first you don't see the implant which is cleverly hidden where the screen's padding is supposed to be. Follow Ledger's guidance to check yours: support.ledger.com/article/4…

oh my god this is worse than we thought here's @Ledger $86M exploits explained > cryptobilis was a reputable and authorized Ledger/Trezor/OneKey dealer for over 4 years > they decided to sell the company to a Chinese guy (most likely patsy for DPRK) from northern China in MARCH 2026 > the "Chinese guy" modded the devices within the supply chain itself (physical), namely Nano X devices, to contain an implant module > ledger validity/genuineness check CANNOT detect this because hw wasn't actually tampered with, just spied on > quoting @MagicalTux: " implant just monitors what's shown on the screen, will take note of the seed as it's shown to you, then transmits it to 3rd party" > former owner chimes in on X (pic below) to say that "they were under a NDA" to not mention anything to anyone for 6 months > they obviously didn't alert any of their partners that they were authorized to sell devices of... because NDA, duh!! its in the name! > conveniently, funds start getting siphoned a few weeks before this magical NDA due date, and being laundered across all blockchains

Been building a GitHub intel platform at @north_scan for tracking DPRK IT workers in open source 26k+ GitHub records, ~30k linked emails/URLs/handles, and 90k+ follow relationships mapped as a graph Red flags come from username patterns, behavioral rules and more, each with its source attached It surfaces signals for analysts, it doesn't attribute. Still more to build NorthScan is participating in the @thedaofund and any contribution helps keep this work going. Link in the coments
