Here is a quick look at construction progress at the Giga Texas Advanced Technology Chip Fab update (@SpaceX/@Tesla joint venture):
More steel superstructure & heavy truss installation today. Additional concrete pours on the S end main reinforced slab. Massive truss assembly underway on the ground on both the E & W sides. GeoPier work continues outside the perimeter grade beam, with more steel parts delivered.
This ~$3B R&D research fab on the North Campus is the precursor to the much larger Terafab in Grimes County. It will develop and qualify process recipes for advanced AI chips (logic, memory, packaging & test) at a few thousand wafer starts/month scale, enabling rapid iteration before volume production.
Targets: first test chips ~mid-2027, useful volume output aspired for Q3 2028.

Don't get me wrong, Sergey and Larry are absolute geniuses who fully understand that compute is going to space, and Google has impressive early efforts here
But the hyperscalers are giant bloated bureaucracies filled with people who who moved up the corporate ladder due to political acumen rather than hardcore execution ability
This was fine in the old world... when atoms were subjugated by bits, and we left the hard parts of building to Asia
It's absolutely unacceptable in the new world... where atoms are king 👑

UBS projects DRAM capacity to grow ~147% by 2030 reaching ~89 EB:
• Samsung ~31 EB (+63%)
• $MU ~26 EB (+100%)
• $SKHY ~22 EB (+38%)
• CXMT ~10 EB (+67%)
But even that would cover less than a third of UBS’s full agentic AI buildout scenario which would require ~282 EB of DRAM by 2030 as AI CPUs already carry ~3x memory of traditional processors.
