217 BEAT THE HEAT: A couple weeks ago Springfield Police received a call of a missing preteen. He was soon found, safe, at a friend’s house. While talking to him he told them he left because they didn’t have air. Since it was so hot in his house he hadn’t been sleeping. He didn’t intend to fall asleep for that long but he was just so tired. While dropping him off at home officers quickly realized it was well over 90 degrees if not hotter inside the home….And this is where this fundraiser was born. In the living room of a desperate mother and a child with no control of his environment. All donations will go to supplying window units to homes who desperately need them. Hopefully with our communities help we can help so many kids- just like this little boy- find some relief inside his own home from the heat. Hope to see you there.
