Yes. This is a big part of why TNG has broad appeal: the progressivism is tempered by a conservative emphasis on duty, the chain of command, respect for the law etc. A very 80s / early 90s combination.
Jean-Luc Picard remains the single most compelling vision of progressive politics I am familiar with — secular, rational, compassionate, egalitarian; a believer in progress & abundance but also duty, hard work, and a constant battle for self-improvement and improving the world.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream has to be one of the most larped pieces of media of all time. People always talk about it as if it's this huge sprawling universe with loads of lore. It's a short story that you can read in ten minutes.

these people didn't exist six years ago. I mean maybe they did but there wasn't such an exhausting array of them. Maybe Musk and the Facebook freak. Now there's so many and they're ruining everything and you have to keep seeing and hearing from them

The people saying AI is a fad may be as delusional as the people who said the internet was a fad, but in 8th grade they taught us HTML because making websites was going to be a really important skill. These things don't always evolve like you expect.

Your computer will be some kind of dumb terminal incapable of running anything more demanding than Notepad, and you'll need to connect to a data centre to get anything done under this glorious future envisaged by the tech bros.

"parents shouldnt have to sit through a dozen movies just to find one they can watch" Buddy idk how to tell you this but they figured out a solution to that a LONG time ago
We just made a promise no Hollywood studio has ever made. No sex or nudity on screen, no F-word, and no misuse of God's name in Angel originals. And 3 million Guild members get a veto on everything before it ever lands on Angel. Parents shouldn't have to sift through a dozen movies to find one they can watch. That's why we made the Angel Promise. foxnews.com/media/angel-stud…

How remarkable that an agricultural worker in the 1930s had access to better tailoring than the US Vice President today.

The substance of this is obviously nonsense, but its worth noting Shakespeare's popularity was actually always bottom-up until quite recently. The Victorian elite in particular disliked his occasional vulgarity, irreligiosity & total lack of moralising anywhere in his work.

El mayor logro de Gran Bretaña fue convencer a todos de que el equivalente en el 1600 del MCU, Shakespeare, es literatura de alto nivel
