Pat Murphy pointed out one of the most important aspects of the Christian Yelich play at 2B:
Yelich had a bigger lead than usual because he was not being held closely by the first baseman, with 2 out and a right-hander batting.
The extra step (and good secondary lead) made Yelich safe.
"The whole game was changed when Yeli was safe at second," Murphy said. "That's just a hustle play."
Little plays decide big games.

Great to see 2022 American Legion Baseball Graduate of the Year Brandon Woodruff back on the mound!
We are currently building our roster for 2027. We plan to play mid week games locally and do a few tournaments around the area on the weekends. Players from Loudoun are encouraged to reach out. Legion is also completely free. Contact Coach Kelman at 303-720-5772 to learn more.

Justin Verlander reveals the game that convinced him to stop throwing as hard as he could
“The whole knock on me early in my career was that I threw too many pitches. I’d throw 120 pitches, but I was only going six innings.”
“I had a game in Boston where we really needed me to get deep in the game. Our bullpen was shot. I go out the first couple innings, and I look up and I’ve got sixty-something pitches.”
“To me, the most important thing for that game was to chew innings. I was like, ‘I can’t keep this pace.’ So I ended up slowing myself down. I was throwing fastballs at 89. I threw a changeup in that game at 91 and threw a fastball at 89 in the same game.”
“I just pulled the throttle way back. I was like, ‘Man, here, hit it. Put it in play.’ All of a sudden, I was like, ‘Man, I am really able to hit my spot.’”
“I basically took that mentality and flipped it going into the next season. Let me try starting games like this and then building up as I go. If I get in trouble, I’ve always got it in my back pocket.”
“I always viewed it from the hitter’s perspective as you’re facing three different pitchers in three different at-bats, and they’re progressively getting harder to hit.”
Unfortunate end to our 2026 campaign going 0-2 in the state tournament after dropping games to Post 125 Lakeside (Richmond) and Post 125 West End (Richmond) Thank you to all players parents and post members who made this season possible. Post 34 will be back.

Summer baseball is here.
The College World Series. Summer leagues. Travel tournaments. Showcase events.
Everybody says they love baseball.
But baseball eventually asks for proof.
Long days. Short nights. Heat. Failure. Repetition.
You either love the dog days and the grind... or you don't.
The game always knows. ⚾️🔥

Pitchers need aerobic capacity. It's a real foundation for recovery between pitches, innings, and outings.
Running poles isn't a great way to build it though, and the "mental toughness" thing is overdone.

You’ll never make College Baseball a watchable product if this is “too far”.
