I bought this RTX 5070 Ti at the end of May 2026. Today, exactly 5 months later, it costs $451 USD more. It costs $510 USD more than an XFX 9070 XT right now.

Ray Tracing and Path Tracing in #PhantomBladeZero.
Ray Tracing enables RT Shadows and Reflections, while Path Tracing adds RT Global Illumination and Caustics. though caustics effects are visible on some water surfaces even without RT or PT.
As expected, both Ray Tracing and Path Tracing are quite demanding. Surprisingly, the performance difference between them is quite small, but the main issue is the additional traversal stuttering and hitching they introduce.

“Your old PC can’t compete with a PS5.” 😂
Gamers Nexus tested PS5’s 120FPS modes against a PC using a Ryzen 3 3300X 💀
The GPUs needed for comparable performance varied by game:
• Devil May Cry 5: GTX 1060 6GB
• Borderlands 3: GTX 1070 Ti 8GB
• DiRT 5: GTX 1080 8GB
A budget 4-core CPU and GTX-era hardware putting up a fight against your "superior" console. 🤷♂️
These were specific tests with closely matched settings and ray tracing OFF. 😂

Arguably the most valuable insight from the past few days of memory industry news came from Lam Research CEO Tim Archer.
On the company’s October 21, 2026 earnings call, Archer explained that the growing adoption of SLC NAND for AI could increase the wafer capacity needed to supply the same amount of storage. Let’s take a closer look.
Specifically, moving from TLC to SLC-class products reduces the number of bits stored per cell to roughly one-third. As a result, he said, every 1-percentage-point increase in SLC’s share of total NAND bits would require approximately 2% more wafer capacity to meet the same overall bit demand.
Some readers may wonder whether SLC is an outdated approach to NAND production, used mainly in legacy products.
Far from it. SLC is a highly promising area that could play a role in NAND similar to the one HBM plays in DRAM.
NAND customers, including NVIDIA and the hyperscalers, are developing next-generation products based on SLC. Within the NVIDIA ecosystem, the focus is on SLC-based XL-Flash, also known as high-IOPS NAND. Outside the NVIDIA ecosystem, SLC is also being used as the basis for HBF.
Put simply, matching the storage capacity of one TLC wafer requires roughly three SLC wafers, while matching one QLC wafer requires roughly four. As production of these SLC-based products ramps up, they will consume an increasing amount of NAND wafer capacity. Just as HBM drove shortages in DRAM, these products could create a similar dynamic in NAND.
With HBF and XL-Flash scheduled to enter volume production in 2028 and 2027, respectively, I think we should consider whether some analysts’ forecasts of NAND prices beginning to decline in the fourth quarter of 2027 may be overly conservative.

Rumor: Nvidia, AMD and Intel have paid over a combined US$5 billion to reserve long term capacity for substrates (ABF, etc.), media report, citing industry rumors, a figure that matches capital expenditure announcements by Taiwan’s top three substrate makers, Unimicron, Kinsus and Nanya PCB, a combined record high NT$161.2 billion (US$5.04B) for new plants and production lines.
-Intel has reserved around US$3 billion in substrate supplies for its advanced packaging business
-AMD announced US$10 billion investment in Taiwan supply chain, around $1 billion seen going to substrates

Happy 25th Birthday Wayback Machine!
On October 24, 2001, The Internet Archive organization launched a free digital archive of websites for the general public called the Wayback Machine.
The oldest pages stored in the archive date back to 1996.
Some information about the upcoming DDR6 standard:
- memory chips going from 16-bit to 24-bit interface
- CPU memory interfaces typically 192-bit
- PAM4 signal protocol (unlike LPDDR6)
- CAMM2 form factor instead of UDIMM and SODIMM
