1/8 — What is 3PointStats? 🏀🌍 We’ve had a few questions about how our charts work, so here’s a simple explanation of what we do at 3PS and how to read our statistics. We collect and analyse official basketball data from 100+ leagues worldwide, turning it into visual tools for understanding players, teams, transfers and games.

The 85–79 final score only tells part of the story. The game flow shows Panathinaikos controlling most of the night, building a lead as large as 10 points, but still having to absorb an 8–0 Baskonia run in the fourth before finally closing it out. Two players were especially important in very different ways. Lessort (@ThiasLsf) dominated inside with 20 points, 9/10 from two, 6 rebounds and 28 PIR in 24 minutes. Last season in the NBA he ranked in the 95th percentile in blocks, 91st in steals, 95th in offensive rebounding, 93rd in defensive rebounding and 92nd in AST/TO among guards. He doesn’t need heavy usage to influence games. He defends, rebounds, creates extra possessions and makes good decisions without taking touches away from the team’s primary creators. For a roster that already has scoring and playmaking, that kind of two-way, low-usage profile could be extremely valuable in EuroLeague basketball. In just 19 minutes, he gave Toronto 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal and 0 turnovers. Active hands, rim protection, extra possessions, clean decisions — exactly the kind of rookie performance that jumps off the tape even before you look at the box score. And the college profile says this isn’t random. Graves came in 99th percentile in steals, 82nd in defensive rebounding, 79th on the offensive glass and 71st in blocks among NCAA forwards. Toronto already has plenty of scoring. A rookie who can defend, rebound, create turnovers and play mistake-free basketball has a real path to meaningful minutes. First home opener. JADEN McDANIELS IS BECOMING MUCH MORE THAN AN ELITE DEFENDER. 🐺 Minnesota's decision to invest another $40 million in @Jmcdaniels7 makes a lot of sense when you look at how his game has developed. His scoring has grown from just 6.8 PPG in 2020–21 to a career-high 15.1 PPG in 2025–26. That's more than double his rookie production, with another significant jump from 12.6 PPG the previous season. And the improvement isn't just about taking more shots. 📊 His 2025–26 percentile profile among NBA forwards: • 90th percentile in blocks • 81st in steals • 76th in scoring • 77th in assists • 70th in PIR • 64th in true shooting His shot distribution is particularly interesting. Of 985 tracked field-goal attempts, 233 came right at the basket, while another 221 came from approximately seven metres. That combination reflects a player who can contribute around the rim while providing perimeter offense. McDaniels isn't simply a defensive specialist waiting for open shots anymore. There are still weaknesses. His defensive rebounding ranks in just the 14th percentile among forwards, while his ball security sits in the 20th. Those are areas where he can improve as his offensive responsibilities grow. But here's the bigger picture: @Timberwolves have secured a versatile defender whose offensive game is steadily expanding. Players who can defend difficult matchups, provide secondary scoring and contribute without dominating possession are extremely valuable alongside established stars. The $40M extension isn't just a reward for what McDaniels has already accomplished. It's a bet that his development will continue. And looking at his career trajectory, that's a reasonable bet. Dallas had a decision to make. They chose Moussa Cissé (@moussacisse224) over Dwight Powell. After 12 seasons, Powell is out, while Cissé survives the roster cut despite reports that he was the most likely player to go. And there's a good argument for keeping him. Cissé averaged 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in just 13.9 minutes per game as a rookie. He brings rim protection, rebounding, athleticism and energy. His offensive game still needs work, but there's plenty to develop. Powell, meanwhile, was an exceptionally efficient finisher last season, albeit on very low volume, and offers more experience and offensive versatility.
