In a @YouGov survey commissioned by the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance, 1/2 of UK adults said they, or someone they know, had been through baby loss.
A higher percentage of women (62%) said they or someone they knew had been affected compared to men (38%):bit.ly/3twJpvm

Here's a few things I've learned being part of the #babyloss community 🧵
1. It isn't rare as they say
2. Pregnancy isn't sunshine for everyone
3. Pregnancy complications aren't spoken about enough because it's too negative to read about during pregnancy
4. Society doesn't consider our babies dying a life-changing experience because we can have more babies
5. #babyloss is STILL taboo
6. A parent NEVER forgets their children who died
7. Grief AND joy can coexist
1 in 4 pregnancies end in a miscarriage and nearly 2.6million babies are stillborn this year. Why are we so afraid to talk about it? Is it unbelievable or ugly that we try to avoid it? Do we think it's contagious? So many are suffering in silence because of the shame to share
Join us at Emancipation Park or Skylark Negril tomorrow evening for #waveoflight where we honour the babies who died. The events are free to attend.

On October 15, we will host our annual #waveoflight to light up the world and show how short yet impactful our babies lives were. Please join us at Emancipation Park in Kingston or Skylark in Negril, and if you can't, light your candle wherever you are #BabyLossAwarenessWeek

Let’s talk about mental health & bereavement 💙 How do you feel about the language used around grief?
The world often wants us to ‘get back to normal’ but this can feel scary for someone grieving, who doesn’t want to forget their person. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WMHD #WMHD22

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay and the irony isn't lost on me the month it falls under #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness
I really like the theme for this year #DoYourShare and so I share a 🧵
Still waiting on @themohwgovjm to respond...
It takes everyone to raise awareness. Chances are you or someone you know has experienced this. My hope for Oct is for more info, education to be spread to those who don't know the frequency + lasting effects of #pregnancyandinfantloss but @themohwgovjm has no stats since 2017 😥

Babies didn't stop dying. There probably have been more deaths. We all know data helps to inform, educate and create change. It's truly sad & disheartening to be asking for the same data for years and nothing is forthcoming. Shows how little care is given to this experience

This is what having your baby dies look like...
This is me, 4 years ago on the L&D ward after being diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome at 6 months pregnant with Damani. I was on magnesium drips at this time. Got one dose of injection to mature his lungs.
Waiting to hear what's next. Praying for the best and never expecting the worst- death. I didn't know what awaited me but I certainly didn't expect it to be what my reality is today.
Tomorrow, Damani turns 4. He would have been going to school like the other 4 year olds.
And helping out with his little sister. And being his daddy's twin. Oh the dreams I had for you. Dreams that didn't materialize. So instead, I hope to dream about you tonight 💙💙 #babyloss
