I got to thinking about an interesting tidbit this week in the History of our Family farm. The Robots have now been milking 14 years and 4 months, or 1 in every 5 days that we have shipped milk, and feeding 1 in every 10 days.I call that progress.
So I took a reading of 1 of our automated control panels today. It was reading a balmy 29.1 degrees at 2:30 in the afternoon sunshine at the barn , the ventilation system was working overtime this November day.
I haven’t picked cob corn in 35 years, but today was one peach of a day that brings back memories of working with an open station tractor pulling the Corn Picker.Harvest memories, we all have them.
For your Christmas list , a book written by my niece ! amazon.ca/dp/B0HNL6ZPWN
There is no perfect feed storage system. But having watched several videos of Silo filling once again this fall simply reminds me . They are great when we are young and the equipment is new. At my age I have no regrets doing away with them, and working ground level.
Being neighbourly I thought it would be appropriate to stop the Manure spreading in the early afternoon going into Thanksgiving Weekend . One thing about having a Community Graveyard beside the Farm. Stopping work sometimes is the Courtesy thing to do.Enjoy Harvest Celebrations!
I think we knew this ! cbc.ca/news/world/world-dair…
