This is probably the best, most striking visual to show what someone feels like when they are in their active addiction. If you think you need help, there are resources in your area. AA, NA, CA, all sorts of programs. There are people out there, just like you, who want to lift you out of that pit. Chances are, you've tried to do it on your own. Repeatedly. What have you got to lose if you try just one more thing?
Some speaker, might have been a priest or a prominent theologian posed the question, "If someone met you on the street, would they know you follow Him."
Honestly, for me, the answer is no. So I gotta work on that, and this is a place where it's easy for me to fall into old habits, but with a harder edge now that they're not tempered by 15 beers.

Because of a large and diversely talented family, I've endeavored to have a better answer to life's inequalities of outcome.
Those two questions have helped me honestly assess where I am and how I got here, and to recognize the little green devil that is lying to me when I feel that I haven't gotten a fair shake in life. I have enough. I have a good job, food, clothes, and a warm, dry place to sleep. Therewith, I have more than 70% of the planet.

Tell you a story about this old woman I befriended in a Farmville forum once. (I know, shut up)
She was around 78ish and originally from Germany. Name of Birgitte.
She had been a hippie wild child. Her five children were by four different men. Her oldest daughter had a passion for black guys, and all her (illegitimate) grandkids were mixed. Her oldest grandson was in constant trouble. Oh and he loved Obama.
I don't need to tell you she was a huge Dem and tried to rile me up politically many times.
She was also a me-me-me type. Not that I'm a very open person, but she just didn't allow me a chance to tell her about my life. It was all about her.
I get it. Older people like to talk because they don't have a lot of friends at 78. So fine. I "let" her talk.
Well Birgitte had not given up the dating ghost and would tell me about her, so far, unsuccessful dates.
She told me older men sometimes didn't get the desired results with one Viagra pill. They needed several. Hello? News to me. I thought one of those puppies would give you a 4hr upright manhood. I was 😱 to hear some dudes took 2+.
I'll never forget how she had left me several Facebook messages the day after a date she had been anticipating for days with a guy in a retirement home. She said he had a full head of hair, he drove his own car, and seemed funny.
Except the time came when they snogged and he took out his teeth to kiss her. Lmao. Oh God I shouldn't laugh but tears streamed down my face when I read that.
Hippies hate old age. They used to make fun over anyone over 30, remember? Grace Slick said that. Heck, even my left-leaning dad said that once and he was no hippie.
So Birgitte's distaste surrounding her old age dating life left me a little cold.
It seemed to me that all her life choices had been bad and now she was having to come to terms with reality.
PS: My last message from her was after the rare time I spoke about ME.
I had shared with her that I was being asked out on a date. I shared a photo of the guy. I didn't know it at the time, but be was going to be my future fiancé.
I wrote: "This is my date. Isn't he gorgeous? He has such kind eyes. And he's witty too."
I attached the photo.
Never heard from her again.
