Hey devs! 👋
In an attempt to push back against AI audio being used and ruining games, I’m making handcrafted audio packs created lovingly from the ground up! 💜
I get we're all starving devs so I'm keeping them mega affordable too. Let's stop shitty audio slop.
Fuck AI.

I’m happy to announce the release of a new open source 3D physics engine called Box3D. I’ve been working on this project for a few years now, but it represents over 20 years of experience writing physics engines for games. Read more here: box2d.org/posts/2026/06/anno…

My reply to someone considering starting a video game company:
The distribution of possible rewards for starting a video game company are generally not very good today. The market is well served, and gaining a foothold requires strong execution on both business and product issues, along with a substantial amount of luck. Plan to burn through seven figures with a not-great chance of making it back.
If you do go for it, some bits of advice:
Identify your customers clearly before you start. Not just a broad community, but specific people, and imagine them as you make decisions.
Initially, build the smallest, most concise game you can imagine anyone paying for. It will still take much longer than you expect.
Once something exists, hill-climb the value. Hopefully you will have some elements that clearly bring joy to people, which you can magnify. There will inevitably be tons of things that people find confusing, frustrating, or just boring that you will need to fix.

Yup. While everyone's story is different, I can confirm that game dev comes with a lot of personal sacrifice.
I could be in a much better place personally if I weren't dedicated to @ResoniteApp
It makes comments that we "Don't care" or "Don't have passion" hurt that much more.
Gamers don't realise how much game devs sacrifice to make a game.
The amount of stories I have heard over the years about marriages ending or coming close to ending because of devs doing crazy hours particularly at the end of a project is unfortunately very common!
Here is one example, towards the end of Portal 2 the lead designers wife was threatening to leave him because he was pretty much living at Valve, so he made the decision to step back and delegate to another team member. (I've met his wife, she is lovely.)
Even with my interviews my wife sacrifices a lot for me to be able to do it and it's something I struggle to balance.
With great success, usually comes great cost.
Thank you to everyone who helped find VRRat!

I wanted have my indie game translated professionally but it was going to cost $2000 per language.
So instead I tried AI translations but they were low quality and caused bad reviews (understandably).
Fortunately, lots of players in my Discord volunteered to help translate, which was great! But I had to manage all the volunteers and their translations through Google Sheets and this was a ton of work.
I don't want to go through all that again, so I made a tool to make Community Sourced translations painless!
It's very efficient and easy to use. I'm planning on making a walkthough video soon, but for now if there's anyone who might be interested in using it, please let me know!
