Visited a small casino and they came to the door and said they were having their drop boxes replaced and they would let me and this woman in after about fifteen minutes. We both left. Stupid casino.

In 2003, a retired shopkeeper from a Michigan town of 1,900 people read a lottery brochure and found a math flaw. Over the next nine years, he and his wife won more than $26 million.
Jerry Selbee never needed luck. In the video below he explains: โI did not have to be lucky to win. I had to be unlucky to lose.โ
The game was called WinFall. When the jackpot hit $5 million and nobody won it, the money rolled down to smaller prizes, and a ticket with just three numbers suddenly paid 10 times more. Jerry did the math in his head. Buy enough tickets on the right week, and the odds flip in your favor.
He started small, secretly pulling money out of their retirement savings. When the next play was going to be $15,000, he finally told his wife Marge. Her answer: โThat sounds good to me.โ
Michigan shut WinFall down in 2005. The Selbees found the same rule in Massachusetts and started driving 15 hours each way. Their first play was $80,000. Their last was $712,000: 366,000 tickets, printed at a store terminal from five in the morning until dinner.
Eventually investigators showed up. The stateโs inspector general found nothing illegal. Jerryโs take: โHe may have known law, but he apparently didnโt have a good background in math.โ
The final count: more than $26 million in prizes and nearly $8 million in profit before taxes. No new car, no beach house. They fixed up the same house they had always lived in and paid for their kidsโ and grandkidsโ education.
Would they do it again? โWe would start it immediately.โ
Did Jerry Selbee beat the lottery, or did the lottery just forget to check its own math?
If you have an issue paying for refills then donโt. I will drink water, bring a drink with me that I have in my cooler in my car, or take the food to go. I rarely buy fountain drinks.
At the @MercedesBenz dealership and the salesman had this on his desk. Do I need to make him throw it in as part of the deal? @chelcity
I voted and won a @MercedesBenz ๐
Billyโs group is still making sports bets but not as good as when he was in charge according to my source.
Phil Mickelson owed money to his Las Vegas gambling buddy, Billy Walters. Billy gave him a secret stock tip, Phil made $931,000 in a week and paid him back. Billy went to prison for 5 years. Phil was never charged.
When Billy got out, he wrote a book about Phil.
More than $1 billion in bets, by Billy's count.
In the video below, Billy tells ESPN what would have kept him out of prison.
Billy spent decades as one of the biggest sports bettors in America. Phil was his golf partner, his friend and a man who owed him money.
July 2012. Phil owes Billy gambling money. Billy calls him and tells him to buy Dean Foods.
Billy's information came from a Dean Foods board member. He owed Billy money too.
A week later, the stock jumped 40%. Phil sold with more than $931,000 in profit. In September, he paid Billy back, partly with that money.
The money went in a circle. Only one man went to prison.
In 2016, the SEC named Phil a "relief defendant." That means he wasn't accused of anything, but he was holding money that wasn't his to keep. He paid back $1,037,029 and never admitted or denied a thing.
In 2017, Billy was convicted and got 5 years. Phil never testified.
"All Phil had to do was publicly say it. He refused," Billy wrote.
While Billy was inside, his daughter died. He wrote that he still believes he could have saved her if he'd been on the outside.
In 2023, his book came out. At least $1 billion wagered. At least $100 million lost. More than 1,115 bets over $100,000. Phil denied one claim: "I never bet on the Ryder Cup."
$931,000: what Phil made on the tip.
5 years: what Billy got.
$1 billion: what Billy says Phil bet.
Phil kept his silence, his career and a reported $200 million LIV deal.
Billy kept the receipts.
Daisy enjoying the nice fall weather and the flowers @trueheart70 planted.
Ran into a Londoner at Aria cage yesterday @chelcity. Cashing out his $8k blackjack win. He told me heโs a professional poker player wearing @Athletics garb and said we need to hang some time. ๐
I would have been laughing uncontrollably. ๐
