An exhibition I wish I could see! Now open @PalaisGalliera A Wardrobe of One’s Own: Dissident Femininities in the 19th Century explores the masculine coded clothing and queer identities through tailored dress. It looks fabulous & if I could wiggle my nose I would go immediately!

I’ve been obsessed with this photograph since I first discovered it online, but I held off on posting it because I couldn’t confirm its provenance. The interplay of conventionally masculine tailoring and gestures often coded as feminine invites a queer reading, suggesting how dress and pose can expand the expressive possibilities of the suit. Thanks to Julie Crooks and Jason Cyrus, I now know that South African photographer Ernest Cole took it in Harlem in 1968. It is featured in their exhibition Sunday Best at @agotoronto.

As traditional media outlets wither, Instagram music blogs like Trending Raps are becoming the dominant infrastructure for underground music news and discourse. I interviewed Trending Raps to see how these pages work. I winced a lot at what I learned. elienis.com/trending-raps-in…

Syd says 'Beard' is her most personal album because it's made up of songs she actually wrote for herself. Her first solo album, 'Fin,' was filled with songs she’d written to give away. "That’s why this album, 'Beard,' feels the most personal. I wrote all of these songs for me to sing." Read Syd's full 2026 FADER cover story here: features.thefader.com/syd

They’re playing nothing but bossa nova classics in this café and yet it’s a bossa nova cover of Southern Freeez what gets a reaction out of me.
