Iโm heartbroken to be posting this message. Yesterday morning, our beautiful, amazing, loveable happy Bryher Beagle, two weeks short of her 11th birthday, wagged her tail for the last time on earth, but not the last time in our hearts ๐๐โค๏ธ

Gent in purple, "State pensioners who have contributed their whole lives are on a lot less than minimum wage"
"I'm very lucky to have a small German pension, and believe me, it's a lot more than what we pay in this country"
"Most of western Europe their pensions are much higher than the state pension in this country"
"I'm lucky I get a pension from the military"
"But people on the basic state pension, I reall feel sorry for them"
My view:
The full new State Pension is roughly ยฃ12,548 a year.
Someone working 37.5 hours a week on the ยฃ12.71 minimum wage earns about ยฃ24,785 before tax.
That puts the full new State Pension at barely half a full-time minimum-wage salary.
Government figures show that 12% of pensioner families received their income entirely from the State Pension and other state benefits in 2024/25.
That same year, around 1.7 million pensioners โ one in seven โ were living in relative poverty after housing costs.
A better pension means being able to heat your home, eat properly and see friends without calculating what youโll have to go without afterwards.
It also means money spent in the communities where pensioners live.
After a lifetime of working, caring and contributing, financial security should be something people can expect.

While Danny Tommo sits on remand for deflating an empty dinghy, others walk free.
Huw Edwards: child sex offences suspended sentence.
Mohammed Amaaz: police assault
Immediately bailed.
Mike Amesbury: beat a constituent up immediate bail.
Danny Tommoโs trial isnโt until 1 June 2027. By then he will have spent 249 days in prison.

Just sad!! Shows what they think of our country and its people. They are completely oblivious to how normal people have to live, women and girls scared to go out but yes they chose illegals over the many wonderful charities in the UK! Unforgivable. #DefundtheBBC

It isn't Islamophobia Awareness Month.
It is Remembrance Month.
You know for the people who fought and died for this country so your ilk could sit on your arses with the comments turned off on benefits.
Tosser.
This Islamophobia Awareness Month, we must shine a light on the abhorrent hatred and discrimination Muslims continue to face.
In the last year alone, religious hate crimes targeting Muslims rose by 15% in England and Wales.
This is utterly unacceptable. London will always stand against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
UK security agencies still assess Islamist extremism as the largest terrorism threat. MI5's Islamist-related caseload remains roughly 75% of its counter-terrorism work, according to recent threat assessments.

In March 2003, Kenny was in the kitchen waiting when Marina Dalglish came home from getting the results of a scan. She told him straight out what the consultant had found.
โIโve got breast cancer.โ
โI need chemotherapy.โ
He barely took in anything else after that.
โI only remember the two Cs.โ
โCancer and chemotherapy.โ
She had two different types of breast cancer. It meant a double mastectomy, then chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
It had been caught early, but there were still months of operations, hospital appointments and losing her hair. Marina wasn't having any of it take over the family.
โItโs better to have no hair than no life.โ
She got herself wigs in all sorts of styles and colours, and the kids would play about with them. Sitting around being miserable was never an option, and she wouldn't have stood for it anyway.
Kenny took her to chemo, sometimes at Aintree, sometimes over the Wirral at Clatterbridge. Along the way they saw how far cancer patients and their families were having to travel, and the conditions the nurses were working in.
When she got the all-clear, Marina wanted to give something back to the people who'd cared for her.
โIโd like to do something to help.โ
She went to her surgeon, Lee Martin, and asked what they could do.
โWell, as you know, the facilities are pretty primitive.โ
โWeโd really like a new chemotherapy unit.โ
Kenny had something a bit more modest in mind.
โOk.โ
โI was thinking of a golf day.โ
Marina's mind was already made up.
โWeโll have a go.โ
In 2005 the family launched the Marina Dalglish Appeal. A thank you to the doctors and nurses turned into millions of pounds for cancer care across Merseyside, paying for new oncology centres, chemotherapy facilities and equipment, plus support for patients and their families.
Marina never treated it as hers.
โThis isnโt my charity.โ
โIt belongs to everybody who has supported us.โ
Her name was on the door, but she'd rather stay in the background and let others get the benefit. And whenever Kenny got the praise for what the Dalglish family had done, he handed it straight back to her.
โThe real one to look up to has been Marina.โ
"Her charity has raised millions and millions of pounds for the fight against cancer."
The Marina Dalglish Appeal has now raised more than ยฃ15 million. Started with a golf day idea, ended with a chemo unit and a whole lot more.
