Nigerian musicians need to stop insulting our intelligence by dressing up political opportunism as a desperate struggle for survival. Every time they are seen hobnobbing with Seyi Tinubu and the people in power, suddenly the excuse becomes “I’m working for my money” or “I’m only looking for my daily bread.” Really? So what exactly are we supposed to understand from that? That without APC connections, you would starve? That the only way to put food on your table is to cosy up to a political establishment whose policies and decisions have left millions of Nigerians struggling to afford the very basics of life?
Let’s stop pretending this is just about making a living. Nobody is saying you shouldn’t earn money, nobody is demanding that musicians abandon their careers, but there is a difference between working for your money and willingly lending your fame, influence and public image to a political establishment that has inflicted so much hardship on ordinary Nigerians. You cannot enjoy the privileges of proximity to power, collect the benefits that come with it, and then expect the same people suffering under that power to applaud you when you hide behind the excuse of survival.
At some point, you have to decide what side of history you want to stand on. Your platform is influence, your voice carries weight, and your silence or association can send a message whether you admit it or not. You cannot constantly preach to the people about resilience while fraternising with the very people whose leadership has made survival an everyday battle for those same people.
There is no comfortable fence to sit on when the people are hurting. You either stand with the people and acknowledge their suffering, or you choose to align yourself with the establishment responsible for it. And please, stop insulting our intelligence by calling every questionable political association an innocent hustle. Not every opportunity is worth your integrity, and not every cheque is worth the price of your conscience.
GOOD DAY, MR PRESIDENT: NIGERIANS DESERVE ACCOUNTABILITY
Good day, Mr President.
I congratulate you on spending a night in one of Nigeria’s states outside Lagos and Abuja. I hope you enjoyed the warmth, hospitality, and delicious cuisine of Akwa Ibom, which I am sure is even better than those of the destinations where you have spent over 260 days outside Nigeria since coming into office.
I sincerely hope this visit will inspire you to travel to the remaining 33 states of the federation, spend time with the people and, more importantly, explain what your administration has done with the ₦15.8 trillion saved from the removal of fuel subsidy, the over $100 billion you have borrowed, the increased revenues accruing to the government from taxing Nigerians, and the additional government revenues which your administration celebrated last year as having surpassed its target.
Nigerians deserve to know how many that were pulled out of poverty within this period, how many out-of-school children were returned to school, and how many functional primary healthcare centres you have built. They also deserve to know how much electricity supply has improved, especially given your promise that if you do not fix power, Nigerians should not vote for you. They deserve an explanation of how you have secured the country, which still ranks among the most terrorised countries in the world.
Mr President, Nigerians deserve answers. They deserve to know what has been done with the resources entrusted to your government.
The New Nigeria we want to build will be based on accountability, transparency, and the physical, measurable impact of our public resources on the lives of citizens.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

thats the point. She's only getting wifed up fast bc other women are still chasing pipe dreams in hookup land. As switching costs rise and other women increasingly seek to exit, her competition increases. yes, she can always find someone, but the quality of who she will find changes dramatically based on competition. as the market reverses, it becomes a race to downgrade, the unwinding of hoeflation.
