My American friends, If you don't understand this, you will never beat your real enemy. On Tuesday, voters rejected data centers almost everywhere they were on the ballot. Within hours, the left was calling AI executives to testify and demanding a national moratorium. Power bills, jobs, safety. That's the official story. It's not the real one. The real story is that the institutional left runs on three things: scarcity, narrative, and money. Manufactured scarcity in housing, healthcare and education, so someone has to allocate it. A captured narrative, so you accept it. And a money printer, so you pay for it without ever voting on it. AI is the first technology in history that hits all three at once. It makes the $200,000 degree look absurd. It makes the expert's monopoly on truth disappear. It pushes prices toward zero in a system that needs inflation to survive its debt. They're not fighting AI because it's dangerous to you. They're fighting it because it's dangerous to them. Read this. Understand it. Then stop attacking the people building abundance, and start fighting the ones who need you poor so they can administer you. AI isn't a threat to humanity. It's an audit.

If you're feeling down right now, this one's for you. Whatever you do, don't stay stuck in the state that's dragging you down. Don't sit in it. Don't scroll through it. Don't replay the same thoughts for the 400th time hoping they'll end differently. The only way out is action. Doing things. Making things. Anything at all, as long as it comes from you. Nobody asked for it, nobody's waiting for it. You decided. Write. Make music. Shoot videos. Build a little app. Whatever pulls at you. It has never been easier to create than it is right now. You have tools in your pocket that studios would have killed for 20 years ago. AI can help you write, compose, edit, code. The one thing it can't do is start for you. Ugly is fine. Small is fine. Just make it exist. Because creating anchors you in the present. Your mind stops rehearsing everything that could go wrong and gets busy with what could go right. Which word goes here. Which cut lands. Which note comes next. And somewhere along the way, without even noticing, you start feeling alive again. Fixating on the negative is quicksand. The longer you stare at it, the deeper you sink. Creating is the rope. Every finished thing, even a tiny one, is proof. Proof you can still move. Proof things can go right. Stack enough of them and the story you tell yourself starts to change. Now picture the win. Six months from now. A folder full of things that didn't exist until you made them. Fifty essays. Twenty songs. A hundred videos. A stranger messages you to say something you made got them through a hard week. You look back at today and realize this was the day it turned. That version of you isn't a fantasy. It's a few hundred small actions away. The first one takes ten minutes. So close this app. Open a blank page. Make one thing today. Then do it again tomorrow.

Come for the view, stay for the goats... Since the SR 504 bridge was destroyed by a landslide in May of 2023, the U.S. Forest Service Johnstone Ridge Observatory (JRO) at Mount St. Helens has been inaccessible to vehicles. Although people can access the area by hiking trail, no drive-up access has resulted in very low human visitation. But, mountain goats are another story. The 1980 eruption killed the few resident mountain goats around Mount St. Helens. However, 46 years later, the blasted rocky hillsides are full of shrubs and wildflowers, creating the perfect mountain goat habitat, and the population is thriving. Scientists were recently up at JRO and were startled to see five goats watching them from the roof of the building. Don't worry, mountain goats are very good at balancing on high ledges. Cascades Volcano Observatory Weekly Update for November 6, 2026: All Cascade volcanoes were at normal background levels of activity for the last week. Over the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Three Sisters. Field crews performed maintenance at Mount St. Helens. 📹: The video starts with an unseasonably clear view of Mount St. Helens with a fresh coat of snow, then pans to the east and zooms in on several mountain goats standing on the roof of the Johnston Ridge Observatory. An extra $1,000 of capital gain can trigger $27,621 in additional Washington tax. Vijay spotted the cliff in how Washington’s new income tax, scheduled to begin in 2028, interacts with its capital gains tax. You can see it yourself in the calculator on my site. Select “Unmarried.” Under Person 1, enter $1,250,000 in “Federal AGI (excluding long-term capital gains).” Leave everything else blank except “Total long-term capital gains.” Enter $278,000 of gains: combined Washington tax is $24,750. Change only the gains to $279,000: combined Washington tax jumps to $52,371. That’s $27,621 more tax on $1,000 more gain. Crossing the capital gains deduction triggers an income-tax addback that includes the deduction itself. Those results already account for the capital gains tax credit. The calculator uses the 2025 deduction of $278,000 to illustrate the 2028 rules. The actual 2028 deduction will be inflation-adjusted. Try it: thestartuplawblog.com/wa-inc…
The marriage penalty isn’t the only disastrous flaw in Washington State’s incoming 9.9% income tax (SB 6346). The legislation is drafted so poorly that it creates an absurd tax cliff—triggering an effective marginal tax rate of over 1,300% on people who realize just a tiny amount of taxable capital gains. While modeling WA’s 9.9% tax on income over $1M (scheduled for 2028), a bizarre edge case emerged in how the new income tax interacts with Washington’s existing capital gains excise tax. Here is the breakdown: The Background The Existing Capital Gains Tax (RCW 82.87): 0% on the first ~$278k of long-term capital gains (standard deduction, indexed for inflation). 7% on gains above ~$278k up to $1M. 9.9% on gains above $1M. The Incoming Income Tax (SB 6346): 9.9% on Washington taxable income exceeding $1M (derived from federal AGI). To prevent double-taxing capital gains, the bill establishes an adjustment mechanism in Section 302: Sec. 302(1): First, you deduct all long-term capital gains from your federal AGI. Sec. 302(3): Then, you add back the WA-taxed gain plus the standard deduction (~$278k) to fold capital gains back into your Washington base income. The Statutory Glitch: The critical drafting flaw lies in the final sentence of Section 302(3): "This subsection (3) applies only to taxpayers owing tax under chapter 82.87 RCW for that taxable year." Because the add-back only triggers if you actually owe capital gains tax, it creates two wildly divergent outcomes for high earners: Gain under ~$278k: You owe $0 under RCW 82.87. Because you owe no capital gains tax, Sec. 302(3) does not apply. Your capital gains were stripped out in Sec. 302(1) and never added back. Your capital gains completely escape the 9.9% income tax. Gain $1 over ~$278k: You now owe capital gains tax under RCW 82.87. Suddenly, Sec. 302(3) triggers. The statute forces you to add back the taxable gain plus the entire ~$278k standard deduction. The whole gain is thrown back into your income tax base. The Math: A $27,600 Penalty for Making $2,000 More Consider a single filer earning $1.2M in W-2 wages (using the ~$278k deduction threshold): Scenario A: $277,000 Long-Term Gain Capital Gains Tax (RCW 82.87): $0 (under the deduction) Sec. 302(3) Add-Back: Does not apply. Income Tax Base: $1,200,000 (gains remain fully excluded) Taxable Income over $1M: $200,000 9.9% WA Income Tax: $19,800 Total WA Tax: $19,800 Scenario B: $279,000 Long-Term Gain (Just $2,000 more) Capital Gains Tax (RCW 82.87): 7% on $1,000 = $70 Sec. 302(3) Add-Back: Triggers because $70 of tax is owed. The full $279,000 is added back into base income. Income Tax Base: $1,479,000 Taxable Income over $1M: $479,000 9.9% WA Income Tax: $47,421 Total WA Tax: $47,491 The Takeaway By realizing an extra $2,000 in capital gains, this taxpayer’s total state tax liability jumps by $27,691 ($70 in capital gains tax + $27,621 in new income tax). That is an effective marginal tax rate of 1,384% on that $2,000. This cliff affects anyone whose other income (wages, business income, RSUs) already puts them over $1M—such as dual-income tech households or startup employees experiencing a liquidity event. Crossing the capital gains exemption line by even a single dollar unexpectedly exposes the first ~$278,000 of previously exempt gains to a 9.9% tax penalty. Whether this was an intentional trap or simply careless drafting, it underscores how poorly structured this legislation really is.

Let's play out your scenario, Thierry. Elon listens to you. He stays out of politics, goes back to business, stops fighting. Here's exactly what happens next. AI creates the greatest abundance in human history. And that abundance gets captured. Not by the people who built it. Not by the people who use it. By states, supranational bodies and NGOs: entities that produce nothing and answer to no customer. They tax it, license it, regulate it, and "redistribute" it through their own hands. Then they make acceleration impossible. Every model needs approval. Every robot needs a compliance file. Every data center needs three years of environmental review. The fastest technology ever invented gets throttled down to the speed of a committee. And then inequality explodes. Not market inequality, where you get rich because you built something people want. Political inequality. 0.001% owning 99.99%, not because they created anything, but because they hold the pen that writes the rules. Every incumbent loves regulation, because regulation is the cheapest way to kill a competitor. That's the world your side is counting on when it tells Elon to "stay out of politics." But you've misread the game. Elon recently said it plainly: mass and energy will take the place of dollars. Think about what that means for you. In a world measured in watts and tonnes, what exactly is a central bank? What exactly is a commissioner? Robotics is going to obliterate two things. First, central banks. Their job is to manage the price of money. Look at the track record. In 1929, the Fed turned a crash into the Great Depression by letting the money supply collapse. In the 2000s, artificially low rates inflated the housing bubble that blew up in 2008. Then came QE: trillions printed, asset prices pumped, and the wealth flowed to whoever stood closest to the printer. That's the Cantillon effect, and it's the most regressive tax ever invented. Macroeconomics as it's practiced is a priesthood whose models never predict the crisis but always justify the next intervention. In 2008 the Queen asked the economists at the LSE why nobody saw it coming. They had no answer. They still don't. When robots produce abundance and value is counted in energy, the money printer becomes a museum piece. Second, the political class itself. This isn't a moral problem, it's a structural one. James Buchanan won a Nobel for showing it: politicians and bureaucrats respond to incentives like everyone else, except they spend other people's money, on other people, with no price signal and no bankruptcy. A system where your budget grows when you fail, and your power grows when the problem gets worse, can only end one way. Corruption isn't the bug. It's the equilibrium. And their entire power rests on one thing: the scarcity they administer. Remove the scarcity and you remove their reason to exist. That's what Elon's project really is. Reusable rockets, robots, energy, AI: the destruction of technocratic collectivism. Not by vote. By obsolescence. He didn't stop fighting. He moved the fight from the ballot box to the factory floor, where you can't regulate fast enough to follow. Gutenberg didn't need a decree to break the Church's monopoly on knowledge. He needed a machine. What's coming is the same thing at civilizational scale: a renaissance. And in that renaissance, Thierry, you'll still have a role. The court jester. Because you were never the enemy. You were the puppet. An elite that refuses to lose its illegitimate privileges needed a face, a voice, a man willing to send threatening letters and call it "protecting democracy." You played the part well. But the court is dying. And the jester is the last one to notice.

We cracked their cheating algorithm. 85/15 algorithm….for every 1000 Trump votes (most likely during early voting when Dems front loaded everything) 150 switched to Dems. It’s the same pattern in every state that went blue.
THE 15% BAND Look at this chart. 59 races. Senate and governor. States ordered from reddest to bluest in 2024. The solid lines are 2024. The dashed lines are 2026. The shaded bands are what moved. One formula fits all of it: Republican 2026 = 0.85 × Trump 2024 Democrat 2026 = Harris 2024 + 0.15 × Trump 2024 For every 1,000 Trump points, 850 stayed Republican. 150 landed on the Democratic side. The numbers: Senate: Republicans kept ~85% of Trump’s share Governor: ~86% Variation explained: 88% What makes it strange: It didn’t matter how red the state was. Wyoming, Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts: same 15% (p = 0.69). The Democratic gain was sized by Trump’s vote, not Harris’s. The Harris part is zero. The 0.85 beat both standard election-swing models in every set of races. Drop any single state and the multiplier stays between 0.846 and 0.853. Why seats flipped: At 0.85, any state where Trump got under about 58.5% falls below 50%. Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina: all under that line. All flipped. What this means: Midterms are messy. This one isn’t. Two sets of races, different candidates, different campaigns, and the same 15% decrease almost everywhere. A pattern this even demands answers at the ballot level: paper ballot hand counts, poll-book check-ins against votes counted, and voter files showing who actually turned out. The numbers raise the question. The ballots can answer it.

Armies that win have the general at the front lines. Nobody wants to bleed for the prince in the palace.
Ron Baron asked Elon Musk how many CEOs live on site in an Airstream and work hands-on with everyone. MUSK: “Airstreams are actually pretty nice... It’s parked right next to the power plant.” “We built this power plant that’s producing over a gigawatt... in about a year, as opposed to normally about five years.” “There is no upstairs.” He walks the entire site up to five times a day. He’s pulled power cables “the size of an anaconda,” run fiber, wired switches, and worked on the power plant software. “I try to do at least a little bit of everything, so that I’m not numb to the pain of the people who are actually doing it.” “It’s not as though I’m sitting in an office and somebody has to come to me. I’m walking the floor, asking them questions actively.” There’s a reason SpaceX is winning the compute race.

President Trump is the most transformative political leader in American History — and he has single-handedly saved America from those who would destroy it. It has been the privilege of my lifetime to have served on his team from Day One, and I am honored beyond words to serve as his White House Chief of Staff. I want to thank the incomparable Susie Wiles for her years of devoted service to the President and the Country, and for her friendship. The mission now is more clear than ever: Fight with all of our soul to support our President and defend this magnificent Republic.

The biggest farmer in Britain is a charity with 5 million members, and it is spending their subscriptions on taking the farming off its own land. Every activist reaches for the same line. British agriculture has been swallowed by corporations, faceless Big Ag, the family farm long gone. The Trust's own accounts answer that. The National Trust owns about 620,000 acres, more than Dyson, more than the Crown, more than any company in the country, and around 1,300 tenant families pay it rent to farm them. It is the largest landlord of working farms in Britain. Big Ag here is a charity that sells scones. Last year it announced a nature plan with a target area covering nearly all the land it owns, which means nearly all the land those families work. The Tenant Farmers Association called it removing land from the farmed estate unnecessarily for rewilding, and that is as close to a swearword as the TFA gets in print. The land it is planning for was not bought. It was given, by people with conditions. Beatrix Potter left the Trust the biggest gift of farmland it ever received on the written instruction that the farms stayed working farms and the Herdwicks stayed on their fells, hefted to their own ground, the flock passing with the tenancy. Those sheep are still up there because a tenancy agreement keeps them there. Thin the stock on a Lakeland fell in the name of nature and you are overturning the will of the woman who gave you the fell. So if you pay the £8 a month for the car park, the tearoom and the sense that something is being looked after, understand what the direct debit is funding this decade. A plan to replace the thing you walk past with the view of it. The corporation you were warned about has a membership card and a gift shop.

I’m very interested in this. It’s going to be an interesting 2 years.
Miller terrifying. It’s not rhetoric. It’s administrative suffocation. In his first term, Miller learned that you don’t need Congress to destroy an enemy program. You just need to redefine the terms. Look at what he did with the "Public Charge" rule. He didn’t pass a law saying "no immigrants." He changed the definition of who constitutes a burden on the state. Suddenly, if you used food stamps, you were inadmissible. The legal challenge took years. By the time the courts sorted it out, the policy had already chilled millions of applications. The bureaucracy itself became the border wall. Now? He’s got Russ Vought at OMB. Do you understand the synergy here? It’s lethal. Miller writes the executive order that redefines "national security threat" to include any NGO that receives foreign funding (looking at you, Open Society Foundations). Vought then zeroes out the budget for any agency that refuses to enforce that definition. It’s a pincer movement. Miller provides the legal cover; Vought provides the financial starvation. The Democrats are screaming about "rule of law." Miller is laughing. He is the rule of law. He just reads it differently. He reads it as a weapon, not a shield. Miller understands that the modern globalist project relies on labor arbitrage. They import cheap labor to suppress wages, which keeps inflation low enough to service the massive debt bubble, which keeps the stock market high, which keeps the donors happy. It’s a closed loop. Miller’s goal? Break the loop. By shutting down illegal immigration and slashing legal H-1B visas, he forces companies to pay American wages. This causes short-term inflation. The Fed panics. The stock market dips. The NYT writes op-eds about "economic disaster." Miller doesn’t care. Why? Because he knows that Judy Shelton and the Treasury team are preparing a monetary reset (the Gold/ESF play we discussed). They want the dollar to weaken slightly against hard assets. They want the stock market to correct so they can buy back equity at lower prices for the sovereign wealth funds. Miller is the wrecking ball that clears the site for the new construction. The Democrats are terrified because they see the wrecking ball and think it’s destruction. Miller knows it’s renovation. The Left fights with morality. They say, "This is wrong." "This is cruel." "This is un-American." Miller fights with mechanics. He says, "This is statutory." "This is regulatory." "This is funded." You cannot argue morality against a spreadsheet. You cannot shame a regulation. You cannot protest a budget line item. When Miller issues an order to deport every non-citizen with a final removal order, the Left will scream "Racist!" Miller will respond with, "Section 235(b)(1) of the INA mandates expedited removal for individuals who cannot prove credible fear. We are enforcing the law." That’s what scares them. He’s not breaking the law. He’s using their own laws against them. He’s using the Administrative Procedure Act, the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Posse Comitatus Act (reinterpreted via Insurrection Act precedents) he’s using the entire weight of the federal code to crush their ideological preferences. They can’t call him a fascist because he’s quoting statutes. They can’t call him a dictator because he’s following procedure. They can’t call him evil because he’s efficient.
