Great win Tigers. Loved @Greg_Gaston on the call. Loved Greg he was Switzerland neutral but did such a good job! #GTG
Just be kind to one another. This world might be effed up but don't let that stop you from being a decent person.
Good win for the Tigers over 18th ranked Iowa State. #GTG
Spot effing on. 30 year season ticket holder that gives zero effs anymore about playing teams I care zero about. Change is gonna happen or me and my money stay home and watch on TV
These are my top 5 reasons why college football attendance is dwindling:
1. The death of regional games and rivalries. Too many schools are now in conferences that make no geographic sense. Having gone to Arizona State, seeing annual games with the LA, Bay Area, Oregon & Washington schools replaced w/ conference games against schools from Kansas, Texas, Florida, Ohio and West Virginia doesn't resonate. This is being felt everywhere.
2. Conference imbalance. We now have a world where the Big Ten and SEC are inherently favored for earning CFP bids and higher rankings before each season begins. The ACC and Big 12 are Tier 2 leagues, and the G6 schools are essentially in a separate class. This has produced an uneven, biased landscape that is entirely unfair.
3. Noise pollution. I go to college football games to tailgate, watch football and listen to marching bands - not for blaring music and sound effects, hyperventilating PA announcers, and flashing light shows. The environment has been degraded.
4. Expanded College Football Playoff. We've entered an era where if your school isn't contending for a CFP bid, it's playing out the string.
5. The transfer portal. Annual free agency has many schools turning over rosters by more than 50-75%. The connections between players and fans has greatly eroded. Most fans can't name 10 guys on their teams any more. That's not ideal.
The sport needs more stability, the return of regional conferences, better game day atmospheres, and a more level playing field.
Perfectly said I was like I know none of these teams or pampers why should I give AF
The powers that be have slowly and purposefully eroded so much of the tradition, regionalism, community and rivalry-focused nature of the sport that this was only inevitable. What used to feel quaint, clubby and quirky has become cold and corporate. Television rules everything including the pace of play. Roster turnover means fans barely know their team. Athletic departments treat longtime loyal fans—the ones who show up no matter what, until they are pushed too far—dismissively at best and poorly at worst. Everything is about the playoff; that was never the point. Will always love the sport but it’s not what it was even 10 years ago and barely recognizable to 25 years ago.
Cash that 50M plus retirement Mike.
And they owe her like 50 million s dollars so Mike can sit at the house and cash those Bobby Bonilla checks for 20 years.
Breaking: Florida State has fired coach Mike Norvell, president Richard McCullough told @aadelsonESPN.
