News: Five institutions of the Philadelphia Big 5 - Drexel University, La Salle University, University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph's University, and Temple University - announce a round-robin scheduling format for men’s basketball beginning in 2027-28.
These institutions are united in their commitment to preserving the history and enhancing the future of the Philadelphia Big 5. The round-robin format represents a renewal of the competitive spirit that has defined the city’s college basketball landscape for more than 70 years, while also preserving the future of a partnership that is distinctively Philadelphia.

With fifth-years taking spots & more international talent coming over, older rosters becoming the norm/immediate-impact players are being prioritized
There’s nothing wrong with starting LM/MM, playing 20+ minutes, producing & developing, then letting your game dictate the next move.
The numbers back it up:

Unless you’re a legitimate Top 50ish prospect (generally speaking), don’t overlook the low-major & mid-major schools
The numbers reinforce it.
From 2025 to 2026, freshman scoring & MPG increased across CBB, with some of the biggest growth coming at the MM level. The number of freshmen averaging 10+ PPG also increased by 35 nationally, mostly at the LM level (53 total)
MM freshmen went from averaging 11.1 MPG & 3.4 PPG in 2025 to 13.5 MPG & 4.8 PPG in 2026. At the 75th percentile, that jump was 15.6 → 20.3 MPG and 4.6 → 7.6 PPG.
