Happy to share that the 2024 ed. of Chemical Control of Turfgrass Diseases is now available! Huge thanks to the 'retired' Bruce Clarke for shepherding this through, over 1500 reports were used to update it from the 2020 version! @TurfgrassChou @Pvincell www2.ca.uky.edu/agcomm/pubs/…

Golfers everywhere are feeling spring fever, but the grass on courses in many areas hasn't quite woken up from winter yet. We have to be patient with course conditions until consistently warm temperatures arrive.

A mild winter day can be a great chance to play golf, but there is a risk of serious course damage if the surface thaws and soil is frozen below. Footsteps or cart traffic can cause soil to slide, damaging grass roots. Learn more about the risk of root shear. #GSRrewind

PSA: Please don't hit a shot towards maintenance personnel during a round of golf. Instead, make sure they are aware of your presence and be patient while they move out of the way. This ensures that they can safely prepare the course for us to enjoy.

It's likely no surprise to anyone that drought conditions are developing across parts of northern Illinois. Since April 1, parts of the area have seen less than 25% of normal rainfall. Chicago O'Hare has only seen 0.78" of rain since April 1, some 3.19" below normal. (1/4)

If you want to learn more about what it takes to take care of your golf course, take the time to know your superintendent and agronomy crew. Actually, better yet, please do so regardless. They’re the reason we get our courses playable. Thank them. Recognize them. Appreciate them!
