Why do some parents hesitate to vaccinate their children? Rumours and fears about side effects can make families uncertain.

In UP, Sakina hesitated to vaccinate her son. With support from a neighbour and other mothers, she reconsidered. Today, she calls her ASHA worker to ask about the next immunisation session. Through our projects, ADRA India supports community-led efforts to improve immunisation.

“I slipped twice, but somehow I managed to collect enough grass. I learned that drying it before feeding it helps protect my cattle from disease.” For Birod Daimary of Gohaivitta, a training through ADRA’s PRECISE project turned a routine task into a lesson in better cattle care

Who is responsible for a community’s health? The doctor? The health worker? The government? The answer is more complicated.

Each person reaches people in a different way. A teacher may influence a child and their family. A local leader may mobilise a neighbourhood. A doctor may help address concerns. Combined, these roles show how community members can connect families with the support available.

When communities have informed, engaged people working together, the message can travel further, conversations can start earlier, and families can be better supported.

As families begin rebuilding their lives after the floods in Assam, parents are often busy restoring homes and livelihoods. Our newly inaugurated Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) give children a clean, safe and supervised place to spend their time while their parents focus on recovery

With trained supervisors, clean toilets and handwashing facilities, safe drinking water, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor games and activities, these spaces put children's safety and well-being at the heart of the recovery. Thank you @tdh_org for partnering with us!

When the floods came, they took almost everything. Rimpi watched the water carry away her goats, her weaving materials, her daughters’ books and clothes, and even the bicycle they used to get to school.

With support from the Assam Flood Emergency Response, the family was able to replace essential items, including a bicycle for Rimpi’s daughters. Now, every morning, the two sisters share it on their way to school, just as they did before the floods.

A bicycle may not seem like much after a disaster. But for Rimpi’s family, it means her daughters can keep showing up for school, keep learning, and keep moving forward. Sometimes, rebuilding a life begins with simply finding a way back to the road. #AssamFloods #FloodResponse

Information can reach a community. Trust moves people to act. Through BRIDGE UP, ADRA works with trusted local voices to engage vaccine-hesitant and zero-dose families. In UP, local doctors helped address concerns around childhood vaccination & encouraged informed decisions.
