Pixels are location data now. I took one photo from a balcony in Austin. Then I ran it through Multiset AI against a public 3D map of the city, and it found the EXACT building and floor I was standing on. GPS listens to satellites. VPS matches what your camera sees against a 3D model. This gets creepy quick. Be careful posting photos out your window.

Very interesting ...
A drop-in replacement for standard electric water heater elements has been developed that contains 20 ASIC Bitcoin mining chips drawing up to 600W. The chips run at 34 trillion hash calculations per second, and the heat they generate warms the water tank rather than being wasted. Water cooling keeps the chips stable, since water conducts heat far more efficiently than air. A companion app monitors tank temperature, hashrate, and earnings, and learns usage patterns to ensure hot water is ready when needed. Heatbit, the company behind the device, estimates earnings of approximately $1.35 per day before electricity costs. The first batch is priced at $899, shipping in Q1 2027, with subsequent units at $1,299, compared to around $180 for a comparable conventional element.

i have been steadily banging the drum on domestic transformer production since 2023, and now, we have resolute grid. the last time an american company fully designed and built these was in the late 80s. so excited to see this come roaring back. incredible work!

❗️ Cargo thieves have stolen more than $100M in hardware bound for US data centers since June, NBC News reports. They hijack freight-broker accounts, post fake loads and send carriers malware links to take over their accounts too. In one of the biggest heists, an SUV struck the security escort of a trailer carrying ~$10M in server rack components from California to Texas. The trailer sped off. An app was tracking it, but its coordinates had apparently been spoofed. In another, a sedan hit the off-duty police escorts of a $13M server load bound for Georgia, and the trailer drove on. None of the equipment from either load has been found.

Interesting ...
PCBs made in America. Twice as fast as Shenzhen. Today @CircuitHub is unveiling The Grid, our factory-scale robot in Massachusetts that builds circuit boards on demand. No changeovers, no per-design setup. Prototypes and production batches, fully automated.

Stanford researchers have developed thermal noise communication, a wireless transmission method that encodes data by manipulating the natural background static produced by oscillating electrons in electrical conductors, rather than generating an active radio signal. A transmitter switches between two circuit states, one absorbing and one reflecting ambient noise, which a receiver amplifies to distinguish as zeros and ones. The system uses up to 1,000 times less energy than conventional radio-frequency transmission. After deriving a mathematical channel model to understand the system’s fundamental behavior, the team improved data transfer rates by 100 times. Potential applications include medical devices and astronomy observatories where electromagnetic interference is a concern, as well as low-power environmental sensors. The research is published in PNAS.

Passed a dude with one of these on his truck earlier and I'm wondering why we don't see more of these in and for the ham bands ... Could cut the end of this one off and make an awesome 10 m antenna! rightchannelradios.com/produ…

Interesting turn of events ...
Holy crap that was wild. I’m so grateful for the magic of AI today. Driving my family back to Texas from the Bama game, munching on a sandwich. Suddenly I see a radial saw blade upright and rolling in my lane. I can’t stop or swerve safely, so I make sure it avoids my tires and I straddle it. We hear a crash and all stop breathing as we brace for the repercussions. No flat tire. No weird noises. We’re good, right? Wrong. A minute later we smell gas. Uh oh. Well we had just filled up RIGHT before then. Maybe I spilled on myself? Nope. This was too strong. We rolled the windows down, took the next exit and pulled into the Dollar General in Cheniere, Louisiana. GAS WAS DRIPPING EVERYWHERE. Crap crap crap. It was 100% full, too. The leak was right on the edge of the tank, making it even more tricky. It was a puncture and a gash. How do you stop a leak as it’s leaking? Whereas flextape when I need it? Lol What to do? Say a prayer and then ask Claude. Claude told me to rub a bar of soap into the hole. Huh?? Soap? Ok bro. So I got the same soap I showered with this morning and rubbed it all up in the openings as gas dripped down into my elbow. It stopped. Just like that. Then go get JB Weld from inside Dollar General. So I got that plus duct tape, a couple towels, sandpaper, paper towels and duct tape. I mixed the putty together, scratched the surface of the tank for better bonding, dried it all off and applied the putty with a plastic knife. Then let it dry, then another layer, then let it dry and harden. Then covered it with duct tape, for good measure. It’s been bone dry ever since. I’ve been stopping periodically to check and we’re almost home. Tomorrow it goes to the Toyota dealership. Today I’m grateful for prayer, and AI.

One of the things about ham radio is the unexpected. Just spoke with KK4BLX about 21 miles away. Report was S2 on his meter and I had him 59+ here in the garage through an HT and a N9TAX Slim Jim through about 30' of coax in a tree in the front yard. 146.520 simplex. 73!

Something similar happened to me when I was racing GNCC ATVs at Loretta Lynn's in Tennessee. I absolutely knew (my experience was a strange and instant moment of knowing - not a voice) during the race to pull over and quit racing. Did just that. I believe in acts of God.
👻 the absolutely true tale of a disembodied voice that convinced a future NASCAR Hall of Famer to park mid-race and leave the track. Yes,Talladega is absolutely haunted. read here -> nascar.substack.com/p/the-di…
