As I said at the time, the multi-state settlement with Meta was a slap on the wrist. New Mexico was just awarded $25 billion for privacy violations, with $15 billion related to Cambridge Analytica.
The multi-state settlement? $459 million that must be divided up among 48 states for the same violations.
Florida isn't going to sell out to Meta. We're going to hold them accountable.

Today, we announced the arrest of Kissimmee Mayor Eva Jacquelyn Espinosa for Grand Theft and Organized Scheme to Defraud. Mayor Espinosa used her position to push a grant program, then took $50,000 from it to enrich her family’s businesses.
Public officials do not get to write the rules and then write themselves a check. Florida taxpayers funded that money to help small businesses, not to enrich the mayor who controlled it.

Today, we launched an investigation into corporation-created insurance policies that stop Florida homeowners from hiring outside help with their claims.
Some companies are using clauses that ban licensed public adjusters—and may even reject a claim if you hire one. Homeowners who use these advocates can get up to 30% more money. We are looking into whether carriers worked together to keep payouts lower for Florida’s homeowners.

Today, we announced that our office secured a state arrest warrant for communist dictator Raúl Castro, charging him with Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder for the Feb 24, 1996, shootdown of two unarmed Brothers to the Rescue aircraft over international waters.

Big win for Florida’s kids. The Eleventh Circuit just upheld HB 3 as constitutional, confirming that we can protect minors from the addictive design features of social media. This follows our win on appeal last year that stayed a district court’s order that prevented the law from going into effect.

4. Public agencies and officials work tirelessly and aggressively, coordinating at all levels of government, to stop fraud before payments go out the door.
5. Fraudsters face justice for their crimes in a court of law. Convicted fraudsters will be imprisoned and barred from ever receiving another penny of taxpayer dollars.
6. Illegal alien fraudsters are promptly arrested, prosecuted, imprisoned, and deported, never able to take advantage of Americans’ generosity again.
Today, we sued social gaming app Discord for deceiving Florida families and exposing children to predators.
Discord told parents safety was “at the core of everything we do.” But we see many cases of child predators luring kids to Discord chats. If you market your platform as safe for our kids and fail to protect them, Florida will hold you accountable.
