Just a little article I worked on yesterday - my first published Medium article! Been working with ReactJs a lot recently and it got me thinking about a few different topics relating to how to test ReactJs components and applications. medium.com/@anthonyjohnc/rea…

It has been a long time since I last replayed the whole thing but I forgot how difficult Tomb Raider 1 gets near the end. I'm about 3 (I think) levels from the end now? It doesn't do things by half measures in terms of tough enemies to battle past by this point.

Hoping to finish the game next week. Highly enjoying revisiting this classic game again. Easy to see why this raised the bar for 3D action adventure games when it first came out. It still holds up really well and the level designs are sublime.

One of my all time favourite TV shows. Was glued to this season after season. S1 to S5 especially were really top tier, quality that other TV shows can only dream of in many respects. I'd love to see Jack Bauer make a comeback with another 24 series / movie. Unfinished business.
The show that changed my life. I directed two episodes in season one. I was asked by showrunner Joel Surnow to come on board for the whole of season 2 as a director and producer. I accepted and spent the next 5 years directing close to 70 episodes and the TV movie 24 Redemption. I was surrounded by the best cast and crew in the business and given scripts by an exceptional writers room that wrote weekly stories that always ended with edge of your seat cliffhangers. If you’ve never seen it, check it out, if you were a loyal viewer, thx for the loyalty over the years.

Been replaying Tomb Raider 1 recently as part of the TR1-3 Remastered set. Just tackled this great level again. One of my favourites in the whole game and it still holds up so very well. Some great puzzles, challenges and finer touches to this place. On to The Cistern next...

With the 20th anniversary of it's North American launch today, it's time to take a look back at Gears of War. What made it such a pivotal title and how does it hold up two decades later? VIDEO REVIEW👉 youtu.be/SCkGWXHq6IQ #gearsofwar #xbox360 #gears20th

I'm quite happy that I bought one of these when I did. It's a fantastic GPU either way but buying any hardware is getting insane now.
The RTX 5070 Ti is getting ridiculously expensive. Despite not being discontinued, its price has nearly doubled since launch. The card originally launched at $749, but the cheapest models at major US retailers are now selling for $1,339.99. That’s a $160 jump in just 8 days. Some models have even reached $1,499.99, twice the original MSRP. Finding one at a reasonable price is becoming a real problem.

First impressions of this: The enhanced, smooth FMV sequences are glorious. All the licensed music is intact and you can watch the two music videos for Duel and Jessie whenever you want. The licensed music can be played during races. Silky smooth 60FPS. Really happy with it!
Hold on now... when did this drop on Steam and @GOGcom and why did I never hear of it before now? The original 32 bit Road Rash is back! OK this is bought. No hesitation.

Supported my DualSense controller with no issues. Looks exactly like the original but a bit nicer? They didn't change a lot either way.~ Everything looks and feels smoother than the original game. Damn it's great. Did I mention how gorgeous the FMVs are? I miss games like this.

The only downside is that they kept the PC MIDI music in it (if you choose to race without the licensed music). It was awful in the 90s and it's awful now. Kind of surprised they didn't replace it with the original 3DO in-race music. It's really far superior. Minor gripe!

Given the reported budget for this, this hasn't sold well. Not even half of what it needed to just break even and that's assuming these were all full price sales. Insomniac are the next big name studio who are going to be in big trouble... Budgets need to be sensible again.
Marvel’s Wolverine has sold 2.4 million units

Will more sales come to pass? Will Christmas save it? Maybe. Lets see. It doesn't change anything about the fact that instead of celebrating a hit (2.4 million is decent sales) they're still looking nervously over their shoulder because of the ridiculous budget they spent on it.

And it goes back to my initial point. Gears Of War E Day has suffered this too. The budget was so stupidly over the top that even being successful might not be enough to even come close to breaking even. Let alone making a profit. This madness has to stop.

This sounds interesting. Maybe with this current trend where nobody can afford a new GPU, console prices are going to go through the roof too, pricing their audiences out of upgrading - maybe we'll finally see some better optimisation of the hardware we all do have right now?
This DirectX tech massively simplifies the ray tracing data your rig has to check and update frame to frame. That could free up a whole lotta memory, with Microsoft demonstrating a reduction of 7.5 GB to 774 MB on an AMD Radeon RX 9070. pc-gamer.visitlink.me/cYXB_H #pcgamer #pcgaming #raytracing

The whole first level of Sonic Adventure was marvellous. Still looks great, still flows beautifully. It's the perfect introduction to what was a fantastic game. Will always have a huge soft spot for Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast. Was amazing to witness this when it was brand new.
Sonic Adventure (1998) - Sega Dreamcast Everyone remembers that whale, but I always thought the dolphins were a nice little flair too!

If this is true and this is in fact what is happening (as in it's not the player doing it during this sequence), didn't The Getaway do this exact same thing on the PS2 around 20 years ago?

Some shots from @PlanetZooGame I really love the visual quality in this game, especially during the changing seasons. Some of these shots are from summer, some from autumn. Also not all scenery here is mine, a lot of this came pre-built with the current map I am working from.

I mention it a lot but Cobra for the C64 is right up there as one of the very worst. I loved the Spectrums version of Cobra. It was a technical marvel for the system with fun gameplay. So it came as a huge disappointment to me that the C64 version was horrendous. Truly abysmal.
What would you consider to be the worst game of all time?

It really has to be Concord doesn't it? All the money Sony pumped into buying the studio, all the money that went into developing the game over several years, all the hype they desperately tried to generate around it and... It was dead and buried within 2 weeks of release.
What’s the BIGGEST gaming flop of all time? Not “disappointing.” I mean completely failed the hype. Name the game.

I don't think anything we've ever seen in our liftetime has crashed and burned so quickly and so mercilessly? Left a lasting impression on the industry too. Every big budget release that flops since it is now tarnished with the "Concord [insert version]" brush. This was brutal.
