Holding your players to a STANDARD you don’t hold yourself to as a coach is a quick recipe for disaster! Just sayin..

Some athletes develop early. Others find their stride later.
Some get the spotlight at 12. Others don’t get their opportunity until 16 or beyond.
Stop comparing your chapter 2 to someone else’s chapter 10.
Your timeline isn’t their timeline. Your job is to get better TODAY.
Stay coachable. Stay consistent. Keep building. 🏀

Carmelo Anthony talks about how Angel Reese has been a winner all her life, despite haters trying to discredit her! 🔥
She won a championship in high school, college, won team USA Gold medal, and now she has a chance to win a WNBA championship.

I watched the Spurs shoot themselves out of a championship chunking 3’s and Brunson kill them in the midrange but people want you to believe everything is black and white.

The #1 goal in youth basketball:
Create an environment where kids love the game so much that they can’t wait to come back next year.
Teach them. Challenge them. Build their confidence. Make it fun.
If they fall in love with the game, they’ll keep coming back. And if they keep coming back, they’ll keep getting better.
That’s what youth basketball should be about. 🏀

One drawback of social media: kids don’t look up to older, better players the way they used to. Everyone gets a mixtape and a graphic now, so the recognition often comes before the achievement. There’s less appreciation for the levels you still have to reach.

You live by the midrange you don’t die by it .. lay ups and kick out 3s get as many as you can , but those who have midrange capabilities will be hard to guard down the stretch of any competitive game.
Argue with your mother! I was taught the midrange / floater EARLY. Courtesy of @vicwilli !!
and I will CONTINUE to teach it !! 😂🏀

Remember…
The entire world tried to dog this girl because she…
Stood up for Raven Johnson.
Said people were coming to watch her too.
Was seen in clips showing every single time she missed a layup.
Her haters got a front row seat to her success right now & I love to see it.
Respectfully disagree. Especially for small guards at the next level. You MUST have an in-between game. Whether it’s a floater or mid range jumper. You take away a whole middle area on the floor by telling your players not to take that shot.
