A new antibiotic from garden soil?
Lariocidin, a molecule with potent activity against drug-resistant bacteria, found in a soil sample from a lab technician's garden!
It disrupts bacterial protein production in a way that makes resistance unlikely.

New research reveals that wastewater treatment plants may not be enough to stop #AMR.
While treatment reduces some antibiotic resistance genes, significant amounts still escape into rivers & coastal waters that can later be resuspended during storms.
