CAIR and a diverse coalition of 100 civil rights, human rights, press freedom, and legal organizations yesterday sent a letter to U.S. House Speaker @MikeJohnson and U.S. House Ways and Means Committee Chair @JasonSmithMO that condemns their recent politically-motivated attempt to pressure the Internal Revenue Service to illegally revoke the tax-exempt status of 15 American Muslim, Arab, Jewish, and progressive groups to punish criticism of the Israeli government.
We will continue to fight these politically motivated attacks, and we stand ready to defend any organization targeted by their McCarthyistic tactics. We will not be intimidated by these politically motivated stunts, and we call on every member of Congress to rebuke and reject this assault on the fundamental rights of American advocacy groups.

Here is a summary about taking tax deductions on your Zakat and Charity:
1. Claiming tax deductions for Zakat and Sadaqa aligns with Islamic principles, supporting both financial wisdom and charitable impact.
2. Such deductions allow for the ethical management of wealth, emphasizing stewardship and the effective use of resources for societal benefit.
3. Opting for tax deductions on charitable donations is seen as a strategic approach to increase the value and reach of charitable acts within a legal and religious framework.
4. When you claim a tax deduction, you are not getting your Zakat or charity back; instead you are getting back the money withheld from taxes that you never received.
5. Claiming a tax deduction for Zakat and Sadaqa is not only permissible but recommended. Make sure to speak to a tax professional to maximize your benefit.

HAPPENING NOW: Hundreds of American Jews are holding a sit-in at Congress — and we won’t leave until Congress calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. As thousands of U.S. Jews protest outside, over 350 are inside, including two dozen rabbis, holding prayerful resistance.
