New York | Les Ambassadeurs francophones ont réaffirmé leur attachement à un ordre international fondé sur le droit, lors du dialogue avec Mme Elinor Hammarskjöld, Secrétaire générale adjointe aux affaires juridiques et Conseillère juridique des Nations Unies.
📌La Conseillère juridique a insisté sur la contribution du #multilingue à la résilience du droit international, présentant les initiatives visant à faciliter l’accès des États et du public francophone aux traités, aux formations et conférences sur le droit international, ainsi qu’aux ressources juridiques de l’ONU.
➡️La réunion a également permis d’évoquer les principaux dossiers à l’ordre du jour du Conseil de sécurité en octobre, sous la présidence de la Grèce 🇬🇷, ainsi que les candidatures francophones aux instances des Nations Unies.

At the UN Sixth Committee, 🇲🇽 spoke for 82 States and the EU, welcoming progress towards a crimes against humanity convention, with negotiations beginning in 2028. Cross-regional support underscores a commitment to prevention, accountability and the voice of victims and survivors

The Permanent Missions of India and Sierra Leone co-hosted an event on the theme “Investing in Girl Child – Transforming Our Future” to commemorate the International Day of the Girl child. Thank Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone H.E. Ms Jeneba Kpaka Bangura and PRs of Andorra 🇦🇩 , Algeria 🇩🇿 , Cyprus 🇨🇾 , Liberia 🇱🇷 and Paraguay 🇵🇾 for participating.
I outlined India’s successful initiatives leveraging leadership commitment, mass-scale and sustained community engagement, and digital public infrastructure. “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao“ helped address social biases, improve welfare service delivery and enhance girls' school enrollment; “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana”, as a small-savings scheme, enabler families to build long-term funds for education and financial inclusion of the girl child; and “Mission Shakti” brought together legal aid, shelter, medical and psycosocial support for women and girls in distress under one roof.
H.E. Ms Jeneba Kpaka Bangura, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone delivered the opening remarks. She shared initiatives being implemented in Sierra Leone, highlighting programmes on education, healthcare with a sustained focus on eliminating child marriage.
Permanent Representatives of Algeria, Andorra, Liberia and Paraguay outlined the domestic initiatives and best practices being implemented in their countries - common themes being universal education, access to healthcare , strong laws to ensure the protection and safety of girl child.
Deputy Executive Director, @UNICEF shared their experience from the field in implementing projects with Member States on education, health, leadership and financial inclusion.
The event enabled sharing of national experiences and best practices in the true spirit of international cooperation. All participants reiterated commitment to investing in the Girl Child.
