ALT ID: Navy blue text on a solid gold background with the ASUC seal in the top right corner Text: “L&S P/NP Update On Wednesday, the L&S Executive Committee voted to extend the late change (late P/NP) deadline to 12/11/22, and to permit individual L&S departments to decide whether major requirements can be satisfied with a ‘P’ grade. This moves the decision-making to over 40 different departments in the College. The ASUC Office of Academic Affairs has already sent emails to all department chairs urging them to approve P/NP applicability, but the final decision rests with each department.”

ALT ID: White and gold text on a solid navy blue background Text: “FAQs When will I know if P/NP counts towards my major requirements? Since each department must make its own decision, we expect departments to make individual announcements about P/NP applicability. We hope departments will make decisions within the next few days. I still want to take my courses for letter grades. How does this impact me? This change does not impact you at all. If you wish to stick with letter grades for your courses, that is totally ok. No action is needed on your part. What about other colleges? Unfortunately, changes to P/NP policy happen on a college-by- college basis. The ASUC Office of Academic Affairs has submitted identical proposals to all colleges urging for P/NP applicability. We hope that the other colleges will adopt optional P/NP grading soon.”

ALT Text: “$5 million more will stay in students’ pockets over the next 3 years. Funding will instead come from student fee reserves that have been collected but not yet allocated. This is the result of months-long advocacy by the ASUC Office of Academic Affairs and other student leaders from the ASUC, Graduate Assembly, and Committee on Student Fees” ID: White and gold text on a plain green background with a white border.

ALT Text: “But the fight isn’t over. The $212 per-year IREF still represents an enormous overreach by the Berkeley administration. In implementing the IREF, the administration bypassed critical student fee oversight mechanisms, including a vote by the student body. This fee offloads core instructional costs onto students amid ever-increasing tuition. We will continue to fight against the soaring cost of attendance at Berkeley and push the campus and the state to fund more of these costs.” ID: White text on a plain blue background with a white border.
