As I reflect on my visit to Lomé last week, I am reminded once again of the extraordinary potential of African women to lead and transform our continent. From the remarkable women working tirelessly in our markets and communities to those serving in the highest offices of leadership, I witnessed the same strength, determination and commitment to making a difference. But what touched me most was the power of solidarity, sisterhood and genuine care for one another. When women lift each other up, share their experiences, open doors and create opportunities for the next generation, leadership becomes more than a position. It becomes a collective force for transformation. Our greatest strength lies not only in how far we rise, but in how many women we bring along with us. I leave Togo deeply inspired and convinced that when African women stand together, across generations and all walks of life, there is no limit to what we can achieve. A new week, a renewed commitment to lifting one another higher! ❤️🌍 #AfricanWomenLead #AWLN #WomenLeadership #Sisterhood #IntergenerationalLeadership #Togo #Agenda2063 @AWLNetwork

1⃣"Food security is not only a humanitarian question; it is a question of power." At the #WorldFoodForum2026 side event "Women in Agrifood Systems: Breaking Barriers at the Frontlines of Crises," I spoke about the realities of women in conflict-affected communities across Africa. It is time to move from recognizing women's contributions to ensuring their meaningful participation in decisions on food security, resilience and recovery. 🧵 1/2 @World_FoodForum @FAO @AWLNetwork @Fasngo

@SahleWorkZewde @DrJoyceBanda @MaEllenSirleaf @AminaJMohammed @ahunnaeziakonwa @SelmaHaddadi @BinetaDOfficial @DeAissata @AWLNetwork @_AfricanUnion @UN_Women

As my Global Office and @WellbeingAfrica Foundation delegation continue through #UNGA81 High-Level Week, it was a privilege for my office to join The Women's Table networking breakfast at the 2026 Annual @ConcordiaSummit, convened under the theme of Advancing Human Rights and Social Progress, where I am glad to serve on the Leadership Council. The morning brought together Mrs Cherie Blair CBE KC of Omnia Strategy LLP, Mrs Alyse Nelson of @VitalVoices, Ms Tarana Burke of @MeTooMVMT, Mrs Nitzia Logothetis of @selenidotorg, Ms Vivian Onano of the Leading Light Initiative, and Madam Bineta Ndeye Diop of the African Women Leaders Network @AWLNetwork, of which I am also a member, for a conversation on the leadership that human rights and social progress now ask of each of us. Across decades of this work, I have found that the most lasting progress comes from women who keep faith with one another's ambitions long after the convening has closed. My thanks to Concordia for the invitation, and to every woman who took a seat at the table this morning. #UNGA81  #Concordia2026 #WomensLeadership  #WellbeingForAll

At @ConcordiaSummit , I was reminded of a conviction that has shaped much of my journey: women do not need to be taught how to lead. Women are already leading. The question is whether we are willing to open doors, create space for others, and turn individual opportunity into collective progress. For me, true sisterhood means moving beyond networking to solidarity, beyond visibility to influence, and ensuring that when one woman enters the room, she does not have to enter alone. A woman may enter a room alone, but real progress begins when she creates space for others. #UNGA81

I am always thrilled to be back at Harvard @CarrCenter as a fellow. During the LINKAGES Series on “Focusing Global Philanthropy on Human Rights & Media,” I reflected on a lesson that has stayed with me since my mission to Nasir, South Sudan: protection cannot begin only when it is too late. Human rights defenders on the frontlines need more than recognition after a crisis. They need an ecosystem that protects their courage, sustains their organisations, provides flexible and long-term support, strengthens independent voices and uses influence when lives are at risk. Africa does not lack courageous defenders. What is needed is the commitment to stand with them, invest in them and go with them. #HumanRights #HumanRightsDefenders #Africa #WomenPeaceSecurity

"Women's political leadership is not a democratic luxury or a quota to be filled. It is an imperative for the survival and development of our nations. Do not ask permission to impact your communities. Speak up in decision-making bodies, champion bold reforms on girls' education, women's economic empowerment, justice, and security. Africa in 2026 no longer has time for unfulfilled promises." — Her Excellency Catherine Samba-Panza, former President of the Central African Republic, opening the 2026 Amujae High-Level Leadership Forum.
