On the direct impact of #Debt on HIV responses,  @UNAIDS provided the clarity that we can delve into tomorrow.   Due to the combination of local budget strains and a record 23% collapse in Official Development Assistance (ODA), vital prevention services like condom distribution and PrEP have faced severe disruptions.   External debt is also putting the global goals in Jeopardy: UNAIDS warns that the SSA region's historic 56% reduction in new HIV infections since 2010 cannot be sustained under these financial conditions. If left unaddressed, the funding gaps risk causing millions of additional infections and deaths by 2030.   In Kenya, the current debt crisis has a direct, severely detrimental impact on the country's HIV response, primarily because massive debt-servicing obligations are crowding out domestic health spending and choking the fiscal space required to sustain treatment and prevention programs.   Because domestic revenue is diverted to debt, Kenya remains heavily reliant on external funding to keep its population alive.
