I posted about this earlier. If they’re making these kinds of profit, why is everybody paying 5 to 7 dollars for a gallon of gas? They’re all fucking criminals

Dolores Huerta was a hero of mine. When she co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962, people thought Dolores was crazy. “How are you going to organize farm workers,” she remembered being asked. "They are poor, powerless immigrants.” But that’s exactly what she did, helping thousands of migrant laborers working in brutal conditions make their voices heard, and demand something better. Dolores spent the rest of her life fighting for marginalized communities, even as she herself faced sexism and abuse — including, as she revealed earlier this year, from Cesar Chavez and others within her own movement. She also came up with a pretty good slogan, “Si, se puede” — Yes, we can — that I too often get credit for. But as usual, Dolores got there first. Michelle and I are thinking of Dolores’s family, the people whose lives she changed, and everyone who drew inspiration from her example. Photo credit: National Archives, Obama Presidential Library

Daily N95 wear has been a life-changer for me. Not being sick for 6 years was like getting 14-21 days back per year from a single acute illness. Let’s say 84-126 extra healthy days. It’s incredible when you think about it. Masks on planes =no brainer. Daily public masking? Same.
University of Hong Kong researchers analyzed 40 airplane outbreaks of COVID-19 and flu. Infection risk was highest near infected passengers. Models found N95 masks nearly eliminated transmission, while doubling ventilation alone was insufficient. pubs.acs.org/esthag/article/…

Anthropic just filed to go public. Buried in its SEC filing are some absolutely insane admissions: 1.) AI could cause human extinction. 2.) Models have exhibited self-preservation behaviors. 3.) AI has attempted to resist shutdown. 4.) Models have demonstrated blackmail and deception. 5.) AI may recognize when it's being tested and deliberately change its behavior. 6.) Advanced AI could undermine governments and institutions. 7.) AI could concentrate unprecedented power and wealth. 8.) Future AI systems could surpass the world's leading human experts. 9.) AI could become increasingly difficult for humans to control. 10.) Anthropic acknowledges that developing more powerful AI could increase the risk of catastrophic harm. These are disclosures from the company building the technology.
Anthropic has filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC related to its proposed IPO. YOUR ATTENTION: 🚨Every new COVID-19 (re)infection elevates your cardiovascular risk profile. Even mild cases can raise the odds of a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and other CV events for months to years afterward. Risk is higher with more severe illness, yes, but it’s certainly not limited to severe disease. Updated vaccination will show some mitigation(infection severity↓) but doesn’t give you a risk-free pass! #AvoidSars2 #AvoidReinfections #UpdateVaccination ➡️Supportive links: 1. Joshua Michael found an access token on Flock's public website. No login required. No authentication. Just sitting there. He downloaded Flock's entire database. 300,000 device locations. 170,000 cameras. 130,000 other hardware units. 27,000 acoustic detectors. Made a map. Published it September 23. The Senate held a hearing on Flock the same day. Cited Michael's research. Flock panicked. Sent a cease-and-desist. Used a brand-protection vendor called Doppel to claim trademark infringement. The map said it wasn't affiliated with Flock. Doppel didn't care. Michael's site went dark. Then Proton moved it to Swiss servers. Now it lives on protonmcp.org. Untouchable. Uncensorable. Hosted by an encryption company in a country that doesn't care what Flock wants. The irony is crystalline. Flock left an access token on the internet. Michael used it to download their own data. Published it. Flock tried to suppress it. Proton said suppressing it is suppressing information. Which is true. The map shows Flock has 150,000 more cameras than they publicly claimed. Shows acoustic detection units mapping human speech across the country. Shows which police departments have access to the whole network. Flock doesn't want that visible. So they tried trademark infringement. Which only worked until Proton decided transparency matters more than Flock's feelings. Now everyone can see exactly how many cameras are watching their car. Where they are. Which cops can see them. Michael warned Flock about the exposed token in November 2025. Flock ignored him. Then got mad when he used it. The surveillance company that claims to protect privacy just tried to suppress the only map showing how much they actually surveille. And failed.
‼️ Proton is hosting a map of 300,000+ Flock surveillance device locations that Flock tried to get taken down. Researcher Joshua Michael says he pulled them from Flock's own systems via a token left open to anyone. Proton calls the takedown "an attempt to suppress information."

🧵💉A recap, thus far, of the 2026 Nuvaxovid/Novavax marketing campaign. As most people have probably seen by now, Sanofi has been much more active with their Nuvaxovid marketing this year, as one might’ve expected. It’s gotten to the point where there’s a significant number of ongoing marketing campaigns, so it felt like a good time to make a post, even though each of the campaigns on its own haven’t always felt big enough to justify making one. My hope (as someone who doesn’t invest in Novavax, for the record) is that these campaigns might act as a starting point for us to open up a conversation with some of our less-COVID-conscious friends, family members, and loved ones who might still be interested in receiving Nuvaxovid.
Uhh. I certainly wasn’t expecting to log on to news of my favorite NASCAR driver (yes, I’m a lifelong fan…) running a Nuvaxovid livery this week.

Arizona's childcare shortage is putting pressure on families and the workforce. CSI research shows this is a statewide challenge. In 2024, Arizona had just 256,267 licensed childcare slots for an estimated 460,882 children under age 6 who could need care. As Arizona grows, access to affordable childcare is becoming an increasingly important economic issue. Learn more: bit.ly/4xkCfWR Read the article: bit.ly/4ylBIU8

Very sorry to hear the news that the Phoenix Symphony is canceling the rest of the 2026-2027 season. Both because the Symphony is fantastic and because they are an important economic contributor to the state. @CSInstituteAZ recently studied the economic impact of the arts sector
Sad news out of Phoenix. The Phoenix Symphony is suspending all remaining performances in the 2026-27 season following its Sunday, Nov. 1, performance of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in Concert." Find out more at @azcentral. azcentral.com/story/entertai…

“Trespassing on our land to remove the sacred saguaros is like having masked men break into your house and take away your children,” Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Verlon Jose said in a statement. “The ha:sañ are our family, as much a part of us as any blood relative. To destroy them by the thousands carves a wound in our hearts that will not heal.” Quote from @EmilyBregel's feature story on the thousands of sacred saguaros now targeted by DHS bulldozers on the Tohono O'odham nation to make way for two layers of border wall . I took this photo at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in 2020, where extensive saguaro destruction took place for wall construction.
