The value of a Ugandan life: How do we move from ākitalo nnyoā to ānever againā?
There's an abhorrent laxity and lack of accountability when Ugandans die from preventable causes. No one resigns in shame, no one is fired unless the public cries too loudly, no national days of mourning, no reverent monuments to commemorate the loss.
Instead, we count ourselves fortunate when the responsible authorities share a lackluster statement days later.
Children die in boarding school fires, in dormitory death traps ā kitalo nnyo; children hacked to death in a community daycare centre ā kitalo nnyo plus a consolation open-air court to assuage our collective agony; brains and limbs splattered, grinded into our roads thanks to the speedy merchants of death ā boda bodas ā kitalo nnyo; 15 people dying every day in road accident (RADs) ā kitalo nnyo nnyo nnyo until it sounds like nio nio nio.

š āMuseveni seems to have a vengeance on Uganda, as if the country was unkind to him and must pay for his suffering. No one can do what Museveni has done to Uganda unless they have a score to settle.ā

Mr Venansio Ndyabahika, a resident of Rwengoma village, Kakanju sub-county in Bushenyi district, has planted reeds over the course of two years to restore more than 3 acres of a wetland that had been degraded and converted into farmland. This initiative aims to preserve the hydrological, ecological, and biodiversity integrity of the Tenga wetland, especially at a time when wetlands are facing significant pressure from industrial development, settlements, agriculture, and mining activities. š¹ ZADOCK AMANYISA #MonitorUpdates
