Two weeks ago, I experienced wheelchair rugby league after being invited to @England_RL training as they prepare for @RLWC2021.
It was tough, physical and requires incredible skill. I left aching and sore: but in awe of the sport and its stars.

Absolute madness if Ross Smith isn't in the Premier League at this stage now. Can't imagine anyone has won 2 majors in the same year and been overlooked. Never gone past last 32 at Ally Pally; sixth seed as it stands so I reckon that changes in a big way this year
Feel very conflicted about this World Cup, as I'm sure most English rugby league fans do.
So many amazing stories, games, nations - like Australia v Fiji right now. It looks unbelievable. But obviously for English fans, it's happening at a funny time of the day, the format is obviously crap, the paywall.. but that really shouldn't detract from the bigger picture. Big crowds, big stories, loads of colour, rising nations. It's okay to not feel part of it but still acknowledge that it's been a great tournament. Two things can be true simultaneously.
If English fans come across as down on what has been a great tournament, there are reasons why. We're detached from it on this side of the world - not helped by the men's team effectively being out three days into it starting!
Semi Valemei having himself a party against the Kangaroos. Wonder what Castleford fans make of this - there's a proper player in there if they get him fit in 2027
First time Oxford haven't scored at home this season. Draw your aways, win your homes. Great point on the road - people making out like we've dropped points away at Bamber Bridge. #bcafc
Those who have slated Callum Connolly this season are about to get a painful exhibition next Saturday in the most important game just how key he is to how we play #bcafc

Think we can all agree the format is awful so the funniest outcome next week is Tonga and Samoa doing a Disgrace of Gijon (Google it) and manufacturing a specific result to ensure they both qualify. They both know exactly what they'll need too as England play 48 hours earlier!
Alternatively: Tonga get two goes against England and Samoa and know 2/3 is enough, as long as they win one. England/Samoa only get one shot.
The format is truly awful, but England also have nobody to blame but themselves if they go out. Two things can be true at the same time.
This is exactly the sort of stuff an aligned club game led by the NRL should be able to sort out. Farcical that nations weren't allowed to have warm-up games before an actual World Cup. Can we just try prioritising the international game on both sides of the world, please
Michael Cheika @LebanonRL Head Coach divulges that either the RLPA and/or @IntlRugbyLeague prevented the Cedars from playing a ‘warm up’ game prior to the World Cup, with Lebanon last playing a Test Match at the 2022 World Cup. This is an area that needs urgent attention #RLWC26
Brian McDermott has come out swinging again in the presser about his belief in the England group long-term.
He may be right, he may be wrong. But it might be time the game put a proper England programme in place to give the national team a chance. Until they do, we won't know.
So:
- England beat Papua New Guinea
- Tonga beat Samoa
- A swing of 68 points across the two results
Easy. Probably. Maybe.
Strange play to kick dead when all the momentum was with England there and they need to score points
Seems a wildly unpopular opinion on here but George Williams has actually been very good again, by the way
England very much in 'just do what you can' territory here for reasons we've already discussed, so to that end, a pretty good 40 minutes. Get Herbie Farnworth in and around the ball as much as possible pretty solid plan; Jez Litten has made a real difference
England now know exactly what's required to reach the semi-finals. They need a Tonga win over Samoa and two wins themselves as a bare minimum - but they need a 150-point swing in those three matches, too. It's not looking good
Exclusive: With an NRL partnership to be signed off for 2028 shortly, London Broncos have been told there is still a route into Super League for them in 2027 - but only if they take ZERO central distribution next year.
